    What causes vertical stringing?

I'm not very familiar with 52's but is the barrel held in with a set-screw, or are you talking about some kind of a stock screw tuner arrangement like the 40x had? From the "Torque wrench for action and barrel screw." thread. I'd look at the scope and barrel tension screw first.

A quick search found the answer someone asked about what rifle and scope. From the "High end scopes" thread.

    Barrel Chambering on Centers

A few months ago someone posted an interesting idea on this forum. Put a spider on both ends of a pipe, clamp one end in the chuck and spin the other in a steady rest.

Martin, your stocks look great & I bet they track a lot better than the factory profile. Jim

Cooper rifles-too good to be true?

IIRC they have a small tenon diameter. Probably a bigger factor than the 3-lug bolt with rounds bigger (in diameter) than the 222.

    Borescope Q?

I read years ago that the Hawkeye used a single piece glass element with the fiber optic lighting passed around the outside of the inner glass optical element. You know how “years ago” memory goes, but it’s a very strong old memory. amamnn The add has me wondering. Is this an optical bore...

    Federal 922A

Walt, Was the impact point and velocity close to the same using UM22 and 922A with your rifle? I shoot quite a bit of 922A and was wondering if the tune would be in the ballpark using UM22. Thanks Jim

    Sanctioning body advice

This is my vision of the perfect format if I were holding matches. IMO, USBR and ARA simultaneously sure would make a nice combination. Adding 3 100-yard un-sanctioned targets would pickup even more people, a lot more people if the clubs in my area are any indication. 100-yard rimfire is a...

looking to get into rimfire benchrest shooting

Carp, those numbers were just my impression of what someone looking in over the last few years could easily believe it takes to start out with a truly competitive setup. You last post should change that perception for many. And thank you, its obvious now there wasn’t any hidden agenda in your...

looking to get into rimfire benchrest shooting

<edit> Hi John I introduced myself and listed the matches and yardages I’m shooting a while back in a different thread on this forum. And post number 24 is pretty specific in suggesting USBR and 3-class club matches as a great place to be if the funding isn’t available to jump in head first into...

looking to get into rimfire benchrest shooting

Are any of you long timers using the same equipment you started out with? I think most people come here with the same questions in their mind. Is it really going to cost me 5k+ for a rifle, 1k for a rest, 2k+ for a march scope, and ?k+ for a years worth of ammo just to start playing in your game?

looking to get into rimfire benchrest shooting

If you guys recommending 40X’s are talking about re-barreled, 1.5oz triggered, custom benchrest stocked 40X’s you should probably say so. Unless you want the original poster to show up with a factory stock CMP rifle. negpos: Option number 2: Shoot in competitions that let you be competitive...

    IBS Changes the Flag Rule

“Your Flags must be placed in your shooting lane which is defined as the center of the area between your bench and the neighboring bench downrange to the center of the arear between your target and the neighboring target.” Can someone official clarify the rule incase it comes up at a match. If...

    Is the Cactus

Is there a single class price for someone who only owns a HV, or is it a 2-gun only event? TIA
