    Questions for the Australians

Boyd, Go to this site and go to Results up the top then click on Records then National Records...any records pre dating 2006 are records for the old rules which was the 12X scope and 8lb 14oz if I remember right...normally the aggs are not up to LV or HV....one of my sporter barrels for my...

CZ452 accuracy, what is missing here ?

Deffie, Without spending heaps of money I think the match chamber is your only chance to pick up a few more points. Here in Australia most of the 7lb 12oz rimfire benchrest rifles were Model 1's, Model 2's @ CZ452's (we don't shoot 10 1/2 lb benchrest here). The first thing we do is replace the...

DS Tenon Jim, Off my head the tenon length for a DS is 1.060"...head space length is 1.075"...this also suits the SV as well....Stolle Panda tenon is 1.115" long. Steve

    30-284

Spindrift, That Stolle is slightly improved...it was owned by a shooter in Brisbane...the 30-284 I've got is the standard version and you can use the 30-06 load data to start with...I'm using 155gn Sierra Palma projectiles in mine with 59gns of AR2209 and getting 3150fps...it isn't too far...

    carbide tutorial please

Al, If the part you are drilling is not critical as far as heat treatment goes just hit it with a propane torch till the broken bit is red hot then let it cool...when it has cooled run a 1/8th slot drill into it and drill it out...always worked for me with broken taps that break off because of...

ppc on a 308 bolt face

Lee, Build a 6ppc on it and don't worry...A mate of mine over here shoots a Bat SV with a 308 boltface and won the State 4 gun this year with it...If your worried about the difference in boltface size just cut a bush from a fireformed 6ppc case and make a cut out for the extractor and glue it...

    Making weight

Jim, Depends on what make of barrel you want to use and what brand of stock...if you use something like a Krieger HV I don't think so but a Maddco might come close...If you already have a barrel then go to Rob Carnells website and use the barrel calculator to work out the dimensions you need to...

can someone with some patience help a newbie to RFBR shooting?

King Ghidora, Your problem is 'PRESSURE' to perform...I have seen this countless times when new shooters turn up to shoot competition...most of them can shoot tiny groups when they're shooting at home or out in the bush but when it's time to compete with other shooters you put too much pressure...

    Benchmark Powder

Benchmark ERDP 527, 39gns of Benchmark is a starting load for a 308 with a 150gn projectile. Check out the ADI website and look at Benchmark 2, that is the data you need....normally there loads are conservative but start with the recommended loads...

    IMR8208xbr test

Pete, It would be nice to know the number for that powder someone in Australia gave you. There is only one powder that I can think of that is not imported by Hodgdon that would suit the ppc and that powder would be to fast. The main powders used by us here in benchrest from ADI are Benchmark 1...

    Best material for scope shims??

Burris Rings I have an action that wont let me get enough windage. I think the base holes are out of alignment because the scope points off to one side with Weaver bases. I use Weaver bases because I need the lightest bases and rings to make weight. Would the Burris rings help align the scope...

neck tension Curtis, As far as I am aware the bushing should have the numbers at the top not facing down. Will give you more neck tension if the bush is upside down. Steve
