6mm BRX neck size and free bore?

Leeroy, Something to consider in deciding on your reamer specs is this : I have noticed that many 6 BRX reamers will produce "bolt click" in the brass after only three or four firings . Typically it is a base diameter issue. Most 6 Dasher reamers I have used have a larger diameter base and bolt...

    Slow Match Results

Shooters at the Piedmont Gun Club can expect to get results via email the same weekend as the match and at the latest Monday . Tommy Williams runs the match and does the score keeping with his two daughters but doesn't shoot the match himself . Shooting there you can get spoiled on getting match...

    Sorting bullets by surface length?

The dial gauge Bob uses IS a big chunk of the $250 Bob charges for the comparator. I know I didn't have an extra .0001" dial indicator laying around . Rodney

    Sorting bullets by surface length?

Since no one else mentioned Bob Green bullet comparator (B.G.C.)I thought I would . I have used this tool for several years now and believe it allows the user to sort bullets in a way that other comparators can't. Bullets can vary from the point that the bullet seater stem contacts the tip of...

    220 Beggs

Brandon, I have had some experience with the 220 Beggs and still continue to shoot it . It does have a light recoil and is a pleasure to shoot in a 10 1/2 lb. LV rifle. I use a 220 Russian go guage to chamber the barrels and fireform lubed brass twice with a light fireform load . I have a...

newbie in Virginia looking to get into 600 yard shooting. Could use some help

Kevin Rayhill is an exceptional Savage gunsmith and doesn't seem to have as much of a backlog as SSS. Kevin has a web site called Stockade Gun Stocks I believe this is the link: http://www.stockadegunstocks.com/ There will be a 600 yd. fun match at Piedmont Gun Club shot by IBS rules around New...

    6brx brass problem

I have found that if you fireform with the lightest load that will "just" get the job done and not load hot for the second firing the brass will work harden and primer pockets will stay tighter longer. It took some experimenting to find the lightest fireform load and still blow the shoulders out...

How to have a BR gun built ??

FB, While they may not be exactly textbooks there are some good books that cover building a bench gun . Mike Ratigan's "Extreme Rifle Accuracy" and Tony Boyer's new book (forgot the exact title) are both very informative . Ron Hoehn at Hoehn Sales should have both of them in stock. Good luck...

    Farley front rest

The fuzzy side up velcro sounds like it might work . Also, the Black Diamond blasting sand that Tractor Supply sells doesn't seem to pack as hard for front rests as play sand or the heavy sand that Sinclair sells. Rodney

    Bore cleaning?

If copper is your problem try KG-12 . It sound like you don't have much faith in the new wonder bore cleaners but this stuff really works . The only thing I don't like about it is you don't see the blue on a patch to know that copper is being removed but have faith it is removing copper. I...

Couldnt get 8208PD to shoot today.

Dan, I'm using 52 gr. Cheek bullets and usually load 27.9 to 28.3 grs of XBR . I start out at 28 grs and see how the group looks. My 220 Beggs barrels run 21" to 22" in length and from my experience what lot # the XBR is doesn't seem to matter like it does as when trying to get a 6 PPC to group...

Couldnt get 8208PD to shoot today.

After giving up on 8208XBR for 6 PPC I tried it in my 220 Beggs barrel and it shot better than Benchmark which was my go to powder for the 220 Beggs before I found XBR . Other than a 20 Tac with 40 gr. BT's I have found no other uses for it . Rodney

Trying to find the best seating depth.

I agree with the previous post that there are some good groups in the charges you skipped. I have found the sweet spot for many 6 BR barrels using Varget between 30 and 30.8 grs. . Find a good charge then start tweaking the seating depth and if you need to fine tune the load some after finding...

    Need more 6 mm VLDs.

No, Robert that was probably Sam Hall he has had good luck jumping VLD's but like you said it's hard for me to break old habits. Although I have had fairly good success jumping VLD's in a couple of hunting rifles where the magazine limited my OAL. Rodney

    Need more 6 mm VLDs.

I have found in my shooting the Berger 105 gr. VLD Target bullet ( Yellow Box) to be more consistent lot to lot than the Berger 105 gr. VLD Hunting bullets (orange box) . The chamberings i use don't require the thicker jacket of the Target bullet but I have just found them to shoot better for me...

    8208 Pulldown

Jerry, I think the confusion on the # AAC 122910 lot of powder is that Hi-Tech is also one of the sellers of this lot of powder and have it advertised as a pull down powder. Maybe because that is what buyers are used to . I dunno . Rodney

    Tubal 3000 for 6 BR ?

Thanks Jerry . I did notice I had better results with the Tu-3000 in the PPC with 68 gr. bullets vs lighter bullets and I remember my sweet spot was around 28.5 grs . Rodney

    Tubal 3000 for 6 BR ?

Thanks Larry , you are thinking just what I suspected and I think I'll just keep trying it in the 6 PPC and see if I can find what will work. Rodney

    Tubal 3000 for 6 BR ?

I cannot find very much load data for Tubal 3000 and I was hoping someone on this forum may have some experience with this powder and the 6 BR using 105 gr-107 gr. bullets . I've used tu-3000 some in a 6 PPC but don't have a good feel for it even in this cartridge. Thanks, Rodney
