I am building a 220 Beggs for my fiance' since she did not care for the recoil of the PPC. She is a new shooter and I want to make it as fun for her as I can so she will attend some matches with me. I want to know who has had some experiance with them and what has worked. Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks
Brandon

Try some of the super light 6mm bullets in your PPC. You could also add weight to the rifle.

Brandon,
I have had some experience with the 220 Beggs and still continue to shoot it . It does have a light recoil and is a pleasure to shoot in a 10 1/2 lb. LV rifle. I use a 220 Russian go guage to chamber the barrels and fireform lubed brass twice with a light fireform load . I have a shorter 220 Beggs go guage but didn't want to have to take off any of the bottom of the Beggs FL die so I continue to use the 220 Russian gauge. For powder I started out using Benchmark then switched to XBR-8208 . XBR is my go to powder for the 220 Beggs now and that is good thing because it never worked in my PPC's and I had a lot of it on hand. Ronnie Cheeks 52 gr. bullet is the bullet I'm using right now. IF you want PM me and I can give you starting loads for BM and XBR.

Ray the PPC barrell is finnished and since I constantly play with calibers and everything I can I wanted to try this. I knew it would be less recoil and I will let her shoot something light until she gets more comfortable with shooting.

Thanks Rodney and I will PM you on the loads since I am low on time and need to get some loads worked up. I read H4198 worked really well in this chambering have you tried it? anyone else try it?
Thanks again to everyone

Well, Gene Beggs did a bunch of work with it. It was more than a "neat idea" for him, he built and tested the notion. You could try a Google search (sometimes works better than a search within BR Central.) And I'm sure your could email or call Gene for a bit more help.

The main reason I built a 6 Beggs is to be able to use the H4198 I already have on hand for my 30BR. I don't remember what the powder of choice is for the 22 cal version.

OT- I have a Yugo SKS with a dark bore and I think it would be fun to chamber up a fast twist - high quality bbl in 220 Beggs with a no turn neck. Then go out and shoot in my club's 600 yd vintage rifle shoots and play hell with their minds :)
