i dont know what to tell you, but ive only got 2 AR's, one has a bushmaster barrel, and the other a DPMS barrel, and both will consistantly do well under 3/4". i think any decent barrel with a free floated handguard or tube should meet you 5/8" requirement. most of the guys on the ARFCOM site...

i personally have 2- 270WSM's, and think its a great cartridge. whats best for you, i dont know.

the stagger feed is a better model anyways, dont worry. put a sharshooter supply trigger on it (they also have some decent stocks), and pick out your barrel. i like pac-nor, but most barrel maker will set up a ready to screw on barrel for your savage.

your problem is being caused by that piece of junk craputrigger! put a good trigger on that rifle, and you'll never have that problem again.

i'd be much more inclined to replace a factory remington barrel, than spend money trying to improve it.

make sure the front action screw isnt too long, sticking up into the bolt lug recess, if thats not it, go see your gunsmith.

i absolutely have to disagree with the above. heck one of the companies we are complaining about made it big by having good prices, and FREE shipping, and they did this for many years before they got greedy. now midway usa has so-so prices and rip off shipping.
