    Optics?

TrxR....I too have a Savage M12 LRPV,.223 eqipped with a Leupold 36x BR scope that I get complete satisfactory results with @ 100 & 200 yrds(this is the max @ our local range). If you're STARTING @ 300 yrds,I fully recommend the most powerful scope(fixed or variable) that your wallet can stand...

    N133 & H322 burning rates...

For 6PPC,short range BR usages:How do N133 & H322 compare as far as burning rates---which is slower/faster of the current lots available-generally? I realize that lots vary. If anyone is loading H322,please advise. I load 28.0gn and it shoots "pretty" good, but I don't know and can't find any...

    Rebarrel...

This question is for our experiened shooters especially here in the southeast. I need a new barrel for my 6PPC. Should I choose a 1/14" twist or change to a 1/13.5" twist? I'll be using Bart's Ultra's 68gr bullets. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you. gpoldblue

    What do you think?

Savage build up............ I purchased a Savage F-class stock. $416.00 delivered. I should have bought the action and built a rifle---would have saved approx $500.00. I thought that the factory barrel would be better than it is. Now I'm looking at having to replace the barrel to get...

Why are we not better today than 20 years ago

Benchrest records... Mr. Kelbly....I think it has to do with the mindset of "you don't have to shoot any little groups, just don't shoot any big groups" and "agg 'em to death". Aggregates are averages and that's what you get-the best average shooter for that event! I think short range...

    Fave .223 loads in a 1-9 brl.

DaRealViper..... Good shootin'! Glad you're doing so well with your rifle. Keep up the good work. I really enjoy experimenting with different components and learning how to use wind flags. Our local 200yard range has a VERY large oak tree right in the middle and causes some difficult...

    Savage LRPV varmiter BEWARE

:)I have a Savage LRPV,.223 Rem,1/9. I removed the ejector, ejector pin,and spring. Now I don't have to chase my brass. The factory ejector kicks 'em out right smartly. Also, now the cartridge isn't biased on one side as when the ejector was in the bolt. Picking out spent brass=no problem. gpoldblue

    Harrells Premium Powder Measurer

Powder charge variations....... + & - .3gn(.6gn) spread in a 6PPC is worth about 70-80fps swing, enough to put you almost out of the "sweet spot" window if you're not in the middle of it. .1gn is worth "approx" 15fps. Thank you. gpoldblue

    Fave .223 loads in a 1-9 brl.

.223 LRPV 1/9 loads..... Mr. Dumas--I too have Savage LRPV .223 1/9. I have been looking for a load w/ N-133. Do you seat "jam, just, off the rifling" and by how much? I'm using neck turned Lapua(.0125"),F205's. I thought N-133 was a little "fast" for .223 as I use it in my 6PPC. Could you tell...

    Keeping gun in tune.

Tuning.......... Gentlemen,I'm VERY new to benchrest. I enjoy the sport immensley. I fully respect your talents and experience. I'd like to know at what yardage tuning is done. I've been trying to load develop at 200yds thinking that if it works at 2 it'll work at 1. Please advise. Thank you...

    Again, Congrats to Rodney Brown

Rodney Brown--- I've been watching Mr. Brown in the NBRSA monthly and what I especially like is he's doing his work with "moderate" loads like 27.6gns of n-133 instead of those "firecracker" loads that a lot of shooters tend to use(29.0-30+gns). These "firecracker" loads beat up actions and...
