Are the 200/300 Group and Score Nationals dead?

St Louis has a 300 yard range, and held some 300 yd matches in the late 90's, and early 2000's. Attendance was so poor, they stopped having them. Although in retro spec, they were getting as many or more shooters as are coming now for the 100-200 matches. A sign of the times. Jim

IS IT easier to load for a lv or a rail ? DOES THE BIG BBL HELP OR HINDER ?

Bag guns have smaller groups, but rail guns have smaller aggs. and that's what wins.

    Iowa State Group Championship

This weekend at Webster City, Iowa, The Dean Guy Eckstrom outlasted a field of 30 to take the 2 gun championship. Along the way, in the Heavy Varmint 200 yard contest, he managed to shoot a range measured .081. It was also inside the mothball with paper all around it. What a beautiful group...

Unlimited Class 6PPC Benchrest, Sleeved Rem XP-100

What I would like to see happen is to change the Sporter class to make a rifle like that legal in that class. You still would be able to shoot an LV or HV and not have to build a new rifle to compete. I know the Sporter rules have been tweaked, but not a real change like this would be. Jim

NBRSA management misses the point again june 2019

When I started shooting, no ranges even considered shooting LV and HV yardages in the same day. Everyone carried cans of spray paint to mark their flags for easy setup. Shooters would help with the target frames. It was not considered a big deal. The Nationals (UL 100 Monday and 200 on Tuesday...

want to replace my flag "spikes" with tripod stands

If you're going to use tripods, the wind must not blow where you shoot like it does here. Jim

    ppc ?

I'm hoping that you don't come into your prime shooting benchrest until you're at least 65.

In your opinion whats killing the group game

I agree with Rick. Every hobby costs a lot of money, if you really want to get into it. If you just want to dabble, competitive benchrest isn't for you. Jim

A velocity question for you smart guys

Jackie, I've tried the 80 grainers, and even if it shot better in the wind, I can't handle the recoil from an 80 grain bullet in an LV.

    ppc ?

Actually, the original ppc's were a lot of .264 necks, but after reamers were resharpened, .262 seemed to become the standard.

A velocity question for you smart guys

I know some powders are much better than others at low ES, but that doesn't mean they shoot well. I've wondered if some of it may be ignition problems with the action-trigger. With some lots of N133, my thrown charges in different cases give better ES than the weighed ones using the same...

A velocity question for you smart guys

In a 6 PPC benchrest rifle, custom action, Krieger barrel, tight neck, etc. what kind of extreme velocity spread would you expect to see using the same case for each shot? Powder charges weighed to .00 resolution on a gemtech scale, 68 grain bullets, speed in the 3360 fps range. I'm using a Lab...
