Unlimited Class Benchrest Rifle, Sleeved, XP-100, 6mm PPC (on consignment from the Thomson Estate).
Weight is approx. 20 lbs. without scope and rings.

Asking $3000 or make a reasonable offer

Sleeved Remington XP-100
Sinclair, Inc. sleeve surrounding the entire Remington receiver
6PPC .262 N.D. (Neck Diameter)
S/N – B75060096
Minor damage to stock forearm (I believe) from clamping in vise.
Unfortunately, I do not have additional information. I have not tried to remove the action from the stock, since I'm guessing that it is glued in.
The trigger breaks very cleanly, at a very, very light pull weight.

Includes scope blocks and scope rings (no scope).
Includes 75 rounds of primed, 3x fired, Lapua brass (220 Russian), and 5 loaded rounds in the same brass. 3 plastic boxes included, showing neck diameter (.257) and loading data for the 5 loaded rounds.
Includes RCBS dies (.257 neck diameter) made for this rifle.

I'm going to be a little rough on you. That appears to be an old cruiser rifle. Several have sold this past year in the $900-$1200 area.
I hope you have a little luck with it.

Please don't worry about being "rough".

I know very little about this rifle. It's a consignment sale. The owner was a member of my club, so I'm doing this to help the family. The gun was "valued" at $5000, and they were looking to get half of that.

What is a cruiser rifle?

The rifle was built before 1993, when the gunsmith died.

Everything that I know about benchrest, I've learned in the past 30 days on the internet. So...

That said, I appreciate any input, regardless of my feelings.
 
As nicely built as it might be, the truth is, Rifles like that will shoot no better than a good LV. It might not even shoot as well. It's more of a novelty piece than anything else.

If you are lucky enough to find someone that wants it, I doubt you would get a $1000.

What I would like to see happen is to change the Sporter class to make a rifle like that legal in that class. You still would be able to shoot an LV or HV and not have to build a new rifle to compete. I know the Sporter rules have been tweaked, but not a real change like this would be.

The 10.5 lb weight limit renders the liberalized rules in Sporter rather moot.
 
You can argue (I mean discuss) the sporter rifle rules two ways. First there’s those who would like to put a bodacious scope or a heavier stock on an existing rifle and call it sporter. Then there are the experimental guys who think they can make something better by putting it on a diet of sticks and twigs. An outlandish looking stock may be the mousetrap of the future. Is less more or is heavier better?
 
Francis, how many Rifles have you seen at Matches that are taking advantage of the more liberalized Sporter Rules that were put into affect several years ago.?

I can think of one.

Before the rule change, 90 percent of shooters simply shot their Sporter in LV, (and HV). Now, 90 percent simply shoot their LV in Sporter, (and HV).

The rifle pictured may make a pretty good UBR Unlimited rifle but I agree with others...it's probably worth about a grand.
