Entrepreneur Trying to work out how to make my fortune as an entrepreneur I have mapped out a plan with two options. #1 is to become a scrap metal dealer in Ukraine #2 is to become a funeral director in Russia I am leaning towards #1 as for #2 poo-tin might ask for a bulk discount. All...

    Rimfire Ammo

Thanks, I am beginning to come to grips with what you said and it is perfectly true. Today I shot some targets and first two shots were perfect dots, the scorer had to use a magnifier to determine if there were actually two holes. For the rest of the card a tape measure would have been sufficient.

    Rimfire Ammo

I shoot a lot of rimfire ammo through my Anschutz model 54 and what bugs me is the occasional flyer that ruins a perfectly good target. My ammo is 'top shelf' stuff (usually Eley Tenex or Lapua Midas +) and carefully sorted by weight, rim thickness and length from inside of rim to driving band...

Mother's Day Today ( Sunday, 8th May) is Mother's Day here in Australia so not a big turnout at my local range but I was reminded of a pickup line that worked for me when I was a young puppy (in my early twenties). Young Doggie: "Happy Mother's Day" Hot young chick: "But I'me not a mother"...

    Ballistic Calculators

The title says it all. My question is; Does anybody use them and how useful did you find them? Plenty available online, paid for and free apps https://www.range365.com/10-best-ballistic-calculator-apps/ I found them useful when a young novice shooter asked for advice about adjusting his scope...

    Tuners!!!!

Mid Barrel Tuners Occasionally I have noticed that some people shoot with what appears to be a tuner about halfway along their barrel. So, is this actually a tuner? If so, how does it work? What are the advantages/disadvantages compared to a tuner at the end of the barrel? Still learning...

What is the most accurate factory rifle you've owned?

That is interesting info Asa Yam. Was the CR attachment really a brake? It had no holes, so I am confused. But of more interest, how did your Model 70 BOSS shoot compared to factory rifles of 30 years ago? I was responding to Al's original question about factory rifles and my Browning was shot...

What is the most accurate factory rifle you've owned?

Browning A-Bolt BOSS The most accurate factory rifle that I ever owned was a Browning A-Bolt BOSS .223 I purchased it here in Australia around 1997 and once I developed some hand-loads that it liked and followed the Browning BOSS adjustment instructions it shot like a laser. The best 5 shot...

What it takes to win... outside gear

When I test my rifle on a calm day with good ammo it shoots great tight groups. So when competition day arrives I remind myself that it ain't the rifle, it ain't the ammo, it's just down to the nut behind the butt and so a positive attitude is required. Windy? Well that's why we practiced in...

    bushed primer pockets??

Al, with all due respect. If a large rifle primer (maybe a magnum primer) would work well enough to ignite all the powder in a 50 cal cartridge then why would a special large primer have been developed? Just asking. * doggie * ps, I was asked to shoot a 50 cal Barrett M82 in a previous life...

    Scumbag Supplier

Prices I specialise in rimfire shooting, same difference. When I recently visited my local supplier to purchase some Eley Tenex (top shelf stuff) I had heard that local (Australian) prices had risen to over $400Au per brick. When I asked about the price I was quoted $290Au per brick as it was...

    Tuners!!!!

You can say that again! Unfortunately my local range has a prevailing l-r wind and it is a rare day when it drops to zero so I am forced to wait for 'condition' as indicated by my wind flags. All is not lost though as even in a given wind condition, group size and location vary repeatably with...

    Tuners!!!!

I am not Mike, but just to confirm my observations, my Aussie tuner http://www.loweyproducts.com/products.html was specifically bored to suit my barrel dimensions and with a 'locator' stop fitting so results are repeatable. I visited my local range today. Vertical error was zero, just like when...
