I have found threads that talk about it being a good designed tool but have come up empty in my search. It looks like he has not posted for a few years. thanks,

What is available to machine the ramps for the lugs on a bolt action?

I think I like Gary B method. I might add a stop collar to control the depth though. Way easy. I also thought of grinding a tool with two cutting edges and useing the haas to broach the ramp with a very steep thread cycle and control the depth by recutting it in Z depth over and over untill...

What is available to machine the ramps for the lugs on a bolt action?

I think its time I start on a project that has been on the back burner for sometime now. I have a PTG one pc bolt and the heat treated stainless bar with the EDM work done. I suppose I could cut them as a surface on my haas mill but it would have an improper radius in the corner. I been...

Not really. The screw insert does not go all the way to the valve body. Only the transferport hole does and it is so easy to do on the side compared to the set up for the transferport and insert hole.

Yes I think I will have to add the trigger guard when I get it back on the west coast after Rick gives it a good trial run. I pretty much ran out of time to get it done. I also sent along another triggerblade that is longer with an Anschutz trigger shoe. I wanted to swap it out before sending...

At Revision #7 so far. Things never go just like you want the first time. Got rid of the hex. Moved on to slots to turn the insert down and they also help to blow the oring outward.

Well I have had some time to work a little more on the Big Boy. Doing some shooting with it over the chrony I just tossed it together with a baseline set up that would be 30ftlbs with a standard .228 transfer port and probe design and produced 39 ftlbs with a .156 transferport. I think it is...

I know there are some newer more airgun specific barrels from benchmark and other makers but I have seen a number of the 3 groove tight bore .22 from benchmark and pushed JSB's through them and inspected under a microscope and the imprint looks outstanding on the head and skirt. The Sumo Rick...

I have been making the titanium tubes and end pieces and Dan Brown fits his reg into it. I am working with Gordon and Dan to take them over since Dan does such great regs and Gordon will need a supply of them for all the guns he is doing. I have sent some to Maxbar inc for destructive testing...

We will have to see just how accurate and consistantly accurate these new class of airguns can be. The open and unlimited class is still just starting but it does show promise. I have never built one to this level before so I am on edge to see what Rick can do with it. and the stock is the...
