    Global Warming

True but here is True but here is a theory that was given to me by an astronomer. The sun spots are strong electromagnetic fields. The molten core of the earth is largely iron a ferromagnetic material. The suns field pulls on the molten core. The oceans temperatures go up at bit where the...

    Global Warming

My take on it My take on global warming goes like this. The story of the earth is written in the rocks and ice layers. It's been a lot warmer than it is now and what's predicted. To the point of where for a while it was almost uninhabitable. It will cool down again as well. This warming cycle...

    Lapua 6PPC annealing?

I do now For many years I did not anneal brass. Not for the 6PPC or any other calibers. But as the cost of the brass went up I decided to purchase an AMP unit. Two things I have noticed. First is because the brass is not springing back in the bump die I have had to back it off about 3 thou...

    help with scope moving....

Scuff 'em up The polished rings irrespective of what make will slip more than those that are not. All I did with the Kelby rings (polished) was scuff up the insides as well as the inside of the dovetails with valve grinding paste. Another shooter I know masked them up and bead blasted the same...

    Redfield Scopes?

Yeah I wonder also Most of the faults that occurred outside the warranty period except for one. Apparently its replacement gave up the ghost also. That was around 2013. So I guess the Leupold warranty in Oz doesn't apply to redfield. Whether things have improved since then is a good question...

    Redfield Scopes?

Well Well apart from obvious point of impact shifts, there were click adjustments that lost the clicks. Some had friction drives that would turn so easily you would call them loose. Paralax adjustments the wouldn't adjust. One of them developed a rattle when shaken. One fogged internally with...

    Redfield Scopes?

Back in the good ole days I purchased several redfield scopes back in the good ole days when they were being made or at least assembled by Redfield. Leupold Stevens took them over when they ran into financial trouble. It became the budget arm of LS. I never had a spot of trouble with my scopes...

    Tubal 3000 - What's it good for?

Tu 3000 The Tu 3000 has a burning rate very close to ADI 2219 with a loading density just a little bit higher. I believe the H322 is the same propellant relabeled So what ever you can use that propellant in you should be able to get a similar result with the Tu 3000.

    Sad Day

Chemistry From what an organic chemist has told me nitric acid and ammonia are readily available in industrial quantities. It's a more complex and messy way of making the compound but doable.

    Sad Day

Small consolation This may be a small consolation but I am glad this criminal wasn't able to obtain a mini gun or something similar. The sheer thought horrifies more than what has happened.

    rcbs powder dispencer

Stay away Stay away from the Lyman product. I have returned 3 so far for three different types failure. It appears they rushed the product onto the market to capture a share of it before they had the design flaws sorted.

    Velocity question

Why not Why not try for a 5 fps SD on top of the node ? Then again this may shoot worse according to the way some shooters analyse the data.

    Velocity question

Interesting I would love to see someone write a paper where they could explain why an increase in ES and SD was inductive to increases in accuracy. Interesting.

    222 remington

I have run compressed loads which put the velocity up to 3230fps. Brass began to suffer and it didn't group as well. 3170 will see it agg in the very low .3's at 100 yds.

I still run a 222 I still run a 222 which used to be my BR rifle but is now fitted with a hunter class stock and used to bust bunnies. It runs a 24" lilija tube and spits out 52gn bergers at 3170fps. Charge is 22.5gn 4198.

Many types of powder about to be banned in the E.U.

Did a little research I did a little research on this a few years ago. The bulk of the hot gas produced from burning smokeless propellant is carbon dioxide. Mixed in with it is some hydrogen nitride and some water in the form of high pressure steam. There are also traces of nitric oxide ...

Lyman Gen 6 powder measure flaw

Number spat Number 3 spat the dummy. So this time I am not sending it back to the distributor I am sending it back to the people that designed it. The covering letter reads what the problems have been with the 3 units I have had. But this time I am telling them to keep it. I don't want a...

    Scopes

Used to NF have sourced glass from Japan no doubt from Fuji. But if your business grows and you can place a large enough order companies like schott and chance pilkington can supply for a lot lower price. Not sure who is doing the surfacing for NF but it will be done on the same type of...

Better glass Define better glass. Optical glass manufacturers are not that great in number. Last I heard was NF and Valdada products used Schott glass. Go figure ?
