First time at 1,000 yards ...

22-inch barrel

Blackhills 175 SMKs should stay supersonic out to 1000. 168 go transsonic at about 800-900 and do some crazy stuff.

that barrel lenght is great. My 30-06 was cut down to a 17-inches and I bang steel with 180 accubonds all day at a dime. If you hav questions about your short barrel (long my some standards) go to GPS and read what they have to say.

I would rechanber your shrot action to a 260 using 123 scenars and not worry about it anymore. 30 MOA, 1000 yards...

If I was going to shoot 1,000 yards in competition, I'd build a rifle to do the job without any handycap. However, I want to see the limitations of this particular rifle. It started as a custom built tactical rifle (Rem 700) that was botched by a local gunsmith. Speedy (at SG&Y) did the best salvage job he could do by rechambering the Kreiger barrel. It now has a 22" barrel, and it shoots just under half MOA at 600 yards with the 175 SKMs. What size groups would you hope for it at 1,000 yards? Does anyone think 5" groups are possible with this rifle?

5 inches at 1000?

I am of the school of thought most rifles with good ammo can shoot moa i fthe shooter does their part and drives hat rifle properly. That being said, if you have a rifle ath will shoot 2.5inch groups at 600, if you do your part, sure it can be done. It all comes down to properly employing that rifle.
