Wow, Butch, think of the multitudes of old guys, who have been playing for years, that have not mastered the Earl Scruggs finger roll like that kid has.

There is a story that a fellow composer once asked Mozart what he saw when he looked at a keyboard. His answer was, "music".

Firstly I wish I had the musical talent of my dad's brother and his son's. Secondly what I would play, Banjo, Fiddle or the Peddle steel. Dad's brother played the peddle steel, self taught. He sold it and never played again. The sound of one gives me chills.
 
Keith, you'll doubtless enjoy this one. The Loudest Band in Rock and combat guitar :eek: 'ala Pete Townshend. Townshend would play so violently his fingers would bleed...you can see that at 5:50 into this. This is why Marshall amps volume controls went to '11'! :cool: Jim Marshall, the father of the Marshall amp that literally made rock and roll music 'loud' passed away this week at age 88.

I waffle between "Turn The Page" and "Jukebox Hero" as being the most evocative pop/rock songs ever written.... but you're right, when that song comes on about 4AM as I'm suckin' whitelines I just ROLLLLL that 'V'button right off the end of the dial and let 'er pour over me....
 
Old thread but worth another post.

I just saw Heart in an outdoor concert...incredible! Ann's voice is as powerful as ever. And what can be said about Nancy???? At 58, she does things that the wannabes half her age can't do, both with the guitar and on stage.

If seeing them do this live doesn't give you goosebumps, call the funeral home......:cool: -Al

Al, You must have a very loud stereo either in your house or vehicle. I have both and will never be to old to jam. My kids are in amazement when I have the Alpine cranked in my truck to some good old school ROCK!

Heart is the best female voice and guitar in the history of rock. Yes, I just said that.

Saw 'em first in 1978 while they were touring in support of Little Queen. I've seen them probably 2 dozen times since. I saw them reinvent themselves as the Lovemongers during the lean years and now I've seen them, finally, generally recognized as the ultimate rock goddesses they are. Wanna know how great they are, even at their (advanced, for R&R) age and even when Ann is having a less-than-best day on stage? Check out Fergie (who's no slouch, to be fair) strutting and straining and utterly failing in her attempt to look like their equal.
