Any sign of 22 rimfire ammo for sale

It's been since at least last Fall since I've seen any 22 rimfire sitting on shelves anywhere. The sporting goods manager at my local Walmart tells me that a couple of times a week he'll get 20 or so boxes of some type or another but if you're not already lined up at 8:00 AM, forget it. I once saw a few boxes of Tula 7.62x39 there but for almost 9 months now it's been 20 round boxes of CF rifle hunting ammo only. No pistol ammo of any description. I was at a big retailer in Atlanta just after a major delivery in April. They had lots of hardball pistol and some 223/5.56, 308/7.62 & 7.62x39. It was gone in a morning. No 22 at all. I remember 2008 being bad but nothing like this.

Is this all hoarding or is this the new reality?

Even the match ammo situation is messed up. You can forget ordering test lots and then ordering what your rifle favored. About 2 years ago I bought a case of Lapua Center X and then promptly sold the rifle that shot it well. I just recently started going through the extra bbls that came with the Hall I got from BH. Fortunately one of his expermentals works pretty well with the Lapua. Since I have over 6 bricks of it I am set for a while.

The name for what you are seeing is the Psycho-Paranoid-Hoarding Syndrome.

It may be just political cycle driven, that is, within the few months prior to or as long as a couple years following an election. However, with some, it may have turned into a lifetime malady. Time will tell. :)

The local Walmart is getting a variety of ammo including .22 on a regular basis. However, as stated before if you're not there by 8 AM you won't get it. They always have 30-06, .270, 7MM Mag., and .300 Win. Mag. with an occasional .45 ACP, .44 Mag., Tula 7.62X39, and Tula .223.
I see people buying ammo for guns that I personally know they don't own. The mindset seems to be that it can be profitable to stick it to anyone needing any of the ammo they purchase.
It seems that ammo has caught the attention of the day traders, anything for a quick buck.

go to www.gunbot.com

it is a site that searches a bunch of internet sites such as cabelas, cheaper than dirt, etc constantly for different calibers of ammo.

it has a bunch of 22LR available now at multiple sites.

At what cost? A year ago you could walk into any Walmart and buy 525 rounds of Federal LRHP for around $18.

An update on the local Walmart, Dodge City, KS.
I was in there last night and the had a full shopping cart of ammo they were stocking on the shelves. .25 ACP, 9MM, .38 Spec.. .44 Mag. ,.45 ACP, .223, .243. 7.62X39, .308 and others.
I was chatting with the two Walmart employees that were putting the ammo up, one of them being a manager of some kind, when the other mentioned that an employee had been hijacking all the .22 ammo that was coming in and not letting it be put on the shelves. The manager informed the other Walmart employee that he was to be informed if that happened again because the customers were to have first chance at the ammo.
I wonder how often this happens in other stores?

Why not get in touch with Dan Killough of Killough Shooting sports. He just sent me 2 bricks of ammo. His website may show out of stock, but just give him your order and when it appears, he will ship to you. Dan and Dawn are great people to deal with. They will not gouge you on price.

Butch, you are wrong...Dan can gets some match ammo occasionally some bulk Federal or Remington...but I have had an order in with him for CCI MiniMags and Winchester M-22 for nearly a month he told me when I ordered it that he had no idea when he would see any of it...
Academy is receiving the bulk Federal and Remington stuff occasionally but the better CCI, and Winchester ammo is almost non-exsistant...
Walmart is not seeing the good stuff either according to the scalpers that stand in line to scoop it up for resale...
I know of guys that have friends inside Academy that tell them what is on the shipping manifest before it arrives so they can line up at 3:00am to be sure to get the good stuff which they resale on the internet for 3-4 times their cost...This is FACT not conjecture...

I'm glad that you are able to correct me. Dan is the Eley test facility and he is #1 on their list. I have waited 2-3 weeks on ammo that I have ordered and it is shipped. If you have such good buddies at Wally World, Academy, and the other places, why don't you get your ammo from them. Have you been on Dan's list for specific ammo and haven't received it? Sounds like you are another cry baby that pisses and moans with your buddies.

Yes, I am on Dans list...he ordered the ammo without any idea of when he could get it...I am pointing out the fact that you are telling everyone on this website that the ammo is out there just call up Dan and you will get it in a couple of weeks..NOT true...he can get some of the match ammo as can some of the local stores..like Wolf match...but you are misleading people when you state that Dan can get just about anything in a matter of weeks...it aint true...if anyone doubts my statement call Dan up and ask him to give you an estimated delivery date on CCI MiniMags or Winchester M-22...You will get the same answer I have stated on this forum..not the "BS" that Butch is slinging..do you think that the people that are trying to buy the better 22lr (non match) ammo are just "pissers and moaners"...I think you live in small bubble of miss-information..you need to wake up..most of us working class guys can't stand in line at 3am 3 days a week to try and get one box of ammo..maybe you haved an inside track on the 22 ammo but the large majority are at the mercy of the "Profiteers"...
Keep them in mind everytime you go to fill up with Gas/Diesel keep a smile on your face and DON'T "piss and moan" about fuel pricess...it's the American way...remember that everytime you see a price increase on things you need/want...just keep smillin'...don't "piss and moan"

Seen plenty of .22 rim fire ammo at the gun shows, all different brands....cheapest was $65 a brick all the way up to $110 a brick.

Our club ordered 20K rounds in Feb, have only gotten 10K rounds in to date.....ammo manufacturers say it will be two years before they are caught up on orders.

You're still crying aren't you. I remember your former post. I'm certainly glad I'm only paying $2 for diesel as I'm in the know. I bought in the 80s, 90s, and later. Am I a hoarder? You reckon I might be smarter than you?

Yep...you seem to think your smarter than everyone...hows your insurance and medical bills...did you hoard up on doctor and dentist coupons...
See diesel and 22 ammo ain't all you need to get by on...I'll bet you spend every day just smillin about how you pay less and got more than anyone else no matter what it is..yep you are one smart guy...

You just don't get it do you? I'm like a lot of people, I just put one foot in front of the next. I don't have time to cry about it. You might look at the positives in life and do what you can to change what bothers you. Whether I like some of it or not, I pay my bills, insurance, and yes, for my shooting supplies. I have plenty as I have bought and paid for mine as I go along. I don't piss and moan about what you call hoarders and gougers as they have no affect on me. I would advise that you buy a little extra as you go along and you will be in great shape.

The first comment is less impressive. The second sounds more practical and polite and prevents vinegar from invading the discussion. :)

The wife and I just walked out and shot about 100 rounds of rimfire at my little pistol range. Even though I'm sitting on what may well be a lifetime supply of rimfire ammo for me, just the thought that I may not be able to replace them detracts from the enjoyment.

Wow. That's not any fun.
Tom try this thought. I am over 50. I have a lifetime supply and I am going to enjoy it. No matter the cost. :)

I just purchased 3750 rounds of .22 LR Federal Match last week from:

Paid $490 including shipping.
