    6PPC Muzzle flash vs. Accuracy?

Dear all, I just received some new 69grs Boattail bullets and it seems that a load of 29.6grs N133 and above will produce a muzzle flash from my HV rifle (~3.424 fps in average). For best accuracy, should I stay below this load or can I just ignore the flash? Thank you, Stephan

Approaching max. velocity - discoloration in muzzle-area?

30.8grs of N140, maybe too much? Primer still seems fine and bolt opens ok as well

Approaching max. velocity - discoloration in muzzle-area?

It‘s a 24“ Walther (germany) barrel and I use N140. I always clean with Iosso etc (not until it is perfect, but 97%). Below are some pictures: Chamber area: Middle of the barrel: Near muzzle, notice intense black stripes: P.S. This is how the barrel looks like after 35 rounds, uncleaned

Approaching max. velocity - discoloration in muzzle-area?

Dear all, with my newly acquired 6BR I am currently working on a load with 105grs Scenar bullets. I finally found a load that will give me a v0 of roughly 2.850fps and now I would like to search a sweet spot between 2.800fps and 2.850fps. What I noticed is that a discoloration (black, more...

    Flyers…?

Hi all, I made an observation over the last weeks which might be already known to you. When shooting BR50 I noticed that for some cartridges (e.g. Tenex) I can feel a difference in resistance when moving the bolt forward (starting when the chamber is touching the wax on the bullets). Some...

Thoughts on Extreme Spread + Standard Deviation with different calibers?

Dear all, I was testing some 6PPC cartridges for the nationals (germany / 30 shots score / preloaded) today with SMK 70grs Bullets. Extreme spread over 45 shots was roughly 25fps and standard deviation was <6fps. Not too bad I guess.. I noticed that over time there was a more or less linear...

How to „Glue in“ an action?

Quick update: Rifle performed well at the range today (not exceptional). I did not bring the SEB Rest etc. but just a BiPod for testing and thats why I feel ok with „well performance“ for today. Will provide an update next week.

How to „Glue in“ an action?

Thanks a lot! Your feedback is really highly appreciated. I will go to the range the day after tomorrow and check if the gun still shoots straight ;-) Tomorrow I will torque both action screws to ~0.6NM // ~5 inch pounds after the glue is hardened completely. (I guess it will hold for the...

How to „Glue in“ an action?

Hi Al, thank you very much! If you do not tighten the screws, I guess there will be no stress? Any tipps on how to check for stress? TY Stephan

How to „Glue in“ an action?

Hi Steve, so if there are already pillars installed (and bedding was done already as well) you „just glue it in“ on top of the bedding with a very thin coating of JB? My biggest concern is getting glue in the trigger.. TY Stephan

How to „Glue in“ an action?

Dear friends, any tipps / step by step guidance on how to glue in an action the proper way? In germany it seems to be very unconventional to have a glued action - even the more popular gunsmiths tell me they don‘t do it and also they don‘t recommend it. So I guess I have to do it myself...

    jgs 1045 fl size die

Hi John, after several reloads I experience the "click" when opening the bolt. For me it seems as if this is a normal process and the cases are hardening (I do not anneal and I have never tried). Actually I am not really sure how much the "click" effects accuracy, but I try not to use such...

    jgs 1045 fl size die

I checked both diameters on several cases and found a difference of < .001 (roughly .0006-.0008 maybe). Probably not too bad!

    jgs 1045 fl size die

Dear John, thank you very much! I guess that shoulder bump is set up correctly right now (bolt will fall to roughly half closed position and can be closed with minimal resistance). I will check the diameters of fired (unsized) and sized cases based on your input and provide feedback here...

    jgs 1045 fl size die

Hey all, currently I am looking for errors introduced by my equipment (and technique) and it‘s very easy to even feel the obvious differences between my 6PPC Harrels die (chosen by Martin Menke based on fired cases) and my other dies. Maybe I did forget a lot of what I learned from books...

    Custom Bulletmakers in Europe?

Dear all, first of all, hope you are all well! :-) As the title suggests I was wondering if you know of any custom bulletmakers in Europe? I know of Andy's "666er" (6mm / 66grs) bullets (and I primarily use them in my Kelbly HV) --> They can be found here: https://bixn-andy.at/ Also there...
