I have a Hawkeye and Lyman bore scopes. The Hawkeye is better to see fine detail but the Lyman is faster and easier to use. I use the Lyman more than the Hawkeye, but when looking at something for the best detail I use the Hawkeye. For cleaning effectiveness the Lyman works fine.

The mirror does appear to be plastic, the piece that is sticking out the end of the scope appears to be translucent (?), light appears to go through it. I assume the mirror is a coating on the end of this plastic. The end of the scope appears to be staked with no easy way to change the mirror...
