Lyman Digital Borescope

I got a new Lyman Digital Borescope and am going to attempt to post some pictures.
The pictures are from a Marlin 56 .22 LR bore pitting, made in 1956 and not well cared for doesn't belong to me.
A Stag Arms Model 15 .223 Rem. Shot and not cleaned, includes gas port rifling lead, and chamber. Not mine.
Krieger .300 Win. Mag. barrel never shot, mine.
When a picture is captured a lot of resolution is lost. The shadow on the right is worse in larger bores, improper placement
of the mirror?
I used it on the brightest setting and get a lot of reflection especially in the Krieger.
I have a Hawkeye and cannot attest to one scope being better than other. The large monitor on the Lyman is clearer than I
expected and as previously stated the captured pictures are not as good as the monitor shows. The Lyman is much easier
to set up and use, put the rifle in a cradle and run the scope down the bore while watching the monitor, no bending of kneeling
to look in an eye piece.
Will I quit using the Hawkeye? Not yet, I need to use the Lyman a lot more to be sure it is good enough for my use.

In the picture of the AR port, a piece of lint from a cleaning patch was clearly visible on the monitor but
did not capture well in the picture.

Still More

I cleaned the lens today and took two more pictures of the Krieger barrel on the medium light setting.
Much more impressed with it today although it does lose resolution when it captures the picture.
If you look closely you will see a flaw in the middle of the picture, much clearer on the monitor.
It uses a transformer from a plug in much like a phone charger, no batteries so must use an outside
source of power.
The transformer has an USB port so I tried it on my laptop. My laptop will power the scope but will not
download pictures directly from the scope to the computer, bummer.
The scope comes with a card reader to transfer pictures to your computer.

I read somewhere that the mirror was a reflective piece of plastic and not an actual mirror. Is this the case? The reviewer said that he rubbed off the reflective finish....it is what made me pause from purchasing. I am very much interested in this unit if the quality is good enough for non professional use.
Thanks for posting.

i ordered one today.
own enough rifles that can benefit from close inspection.
only time will tell.

Can one of you guys post a picture of a carbon ring or lack of so I can see if there is a difference between that and my hawkeye?

al,
9mm..35 cal mirrors...not much use to the br crowd

do they show any smaller ?

The mirror does appear to be plastic, the piece that is sticking out the end of the scope appears to be
translucent (?), light appears to go through it. I assume the mirror is a coating on the end of this plastic.

The end of the scope appears to be staked with no easy way to change the mirror, so I don't think the
thingies will work.

I almost always buy two of everything.
I just listed in the Classifieds a New Lyman bore scope if any one is interested.
Under cleaning equipment.

I didn't expect the response I got.
I shut down my computer after posting and sold the scope to the
first person that called.
I apologize to anyone that wanted it and it is now unavailable.
