    125gr. BIB

The 125 - both 7 & 10 ogive BIB versions- are based on the 1.00" long J4 jacket and work quite well via any twist rate, up to 1:18":for these bullets, at sea level, STd. conditions, a 1:18" twist rate imparts about 1.46 Sg. Of course, faster twists will produce higher Sg and still shoot BR...

    Reloader 7 X 30 BR

Liseo, if you can obtain Vectan (Nobel Sport) powders, score some Tubal-2000 - for the 30 BR and other short thirty caliber chamberings, this stuff is pretty decent - had I taken advice sooner, I'd have a BIG stash of this powder. . . but I didn't listen soon enough! :D I'm with Jackie...

Bullet Making (originally owned by Stephen Perry)

Unless something has changed, Berger/J4 will not part with the 'thick jackets', so the options aren't as confusing . . . but, things CHANGE all the time! :D For the 105-108Gr., 6mms, you'll probably want 1.150" long jackets. RG

Bullet Making (originally owned by Stephen Perry)

You may like this - try it. I have one station, set-up this way (about 15 Deg. from horisontal), where I switch presses (Niemi converted RockChuckers and/or my own LEE CLASSIC conversions) to point various small caliber bullets (25 cal and <) and to seat cores (all calibers). At this station, I...

    Looking for 30X44 help please.

Your barrel will nicely handle all of the BR quality FB bullets of, and up to, a little over 1.10" long - for custom bullets, made with J4 jackets, this will include most any weight between 110 through 136 Gr. . . . and, if made on the 1.080" long jacket, even 150 grains. With the 30x44...

Bullet Making (originally owned by Stephen Perry)

I did the LEE CLASSIC conversions myself (well, with the help of, BIG MIKE, my alter-ego.). Stu Harvey, long-time BR competitor and bullet maker (a very savvy and crafty sort:)), who lives in the PEOPLES REPUBLIC of KALIFORNIA, then did at least one LEE CLASSIC conversion - maybe more -...

Gerry, I haven't figured out how to post a pic here, but here's a link to a pic in my photo album on the SGR forum - if dead animal pics bug ya, don't look too far either side of this pic . . . http://www.bench-talk.com/photos/r_g_robinett/picture802.aspx The original B&A design is very well...

Bullet Making (originally owned by Stephen Perry)

Randy, the article you're referring to is from the January 1985 issue of Prescision Shooting, page 16. Dave Brennan prefaced the article with this quote: " Editor's note: Jonas Hallgrimson was a vital part of the evolution of thought and logic that lead to the development of the...

George, Thank you for setting this straight - it was Mr Hallgrimson, who authored the PS article to which I referred . . . the grey matter is getting more murky with age! :D RG

Bullet Making (originally owned by Stephen Perry)

During the late 1940's, Biehler & Astels - from Ice Land no less - invented the single cavity swaging-up process, by which, to this day, all BR quality bullets are formed. In Precision Shooting, I believe during the late 1980's, there was a very well done, informative article published about...

    Bullet Swagging

Well done, Mr. Valentine. :) Bullet making isn't 'rocket science': it's simply the common sense use of good tooling to convert lead-wire and excellent jackets into bullets. To learn the fundamentals of bullet making, one of the BEST reads remains the description, by Mike Walker and Emory...

    .30 BR powders

H-4198, N-130, RL-7, H-322, BenchMark, and similar burn-rate powders have all proven useful: like H-4198, the N-130 is usually shot with a "case-full", or, upwards of 34.5 Gr., or, a well compressed charge. Of note, from about 32.0 Gr. up, the H-4198 usually delivers several nice 'sweet-spots'...
