Wanna watch grass grow with me?

Chad it sounds like you've got it sorted out mate. In my experience reaming is only ever sucessfull as a "finishing" operation. Roughing the holes with a 20 thow radius carbide endmill should work perfectly and greatly reduce the work and load on the reamer. I have often negated the use of...

    Action Build Log.

G'day Robert Mate to be perfectly honest i hadn't realy given it any thought! But the bolt is already harder than the catch. The bolts are arround 44 HRC and i would suspect that the 4140 bar to be at arround 30-35 HRC so realy there shouldn't be a problem. If i decide to get the catch...

The finial part is finished!! I managed to get the bolt release catch made today. Milled out of a sold bar of 4140, it will be probably finial polished and then silver nitrided. I am also considering adding some metal checkering to the top of the bolt shroud and the release catch. Any smiths...

    My new Coaxial rest

The bearings used in my rest were 30mm OD and 17mm ID. Thats about 1 3/16 OD and 11/16 ID. I had pleanty of meat to drill and tap each side for the handle and the counter weight. I had some time today and made up a suitable counter weight. What a difference... With the weight added and...

    My new Coaxial rest

The internals for my rest were pretty simple also. I didn't use "V" grooves but instead clamped the two plates together with a 1/16 alloy shim in between and then drilled and reamed two 8mm holes down the center. When they were seperated i was left with two circular grooves precisly matched to...

    What neck chamber size?

6br G'day Gt40 My 6BR reamer is from PT&G and was a "No Turn" neck at 0.270. I'm using Lapua brass and loaded rounds neck measures 0.2685. Most would consider this to be the minium clearance for neck dia. Cheers Leeroy

    got a question

G'day Jhart Mate you will get lots of differing opinions on this one... In my 6BR i only FL size when cases become tight to chamber, other wise I just neck size using a redding Bushing neck sizer die. My accuracy load is 31 Gns of AR-2208 (Varget) over a CCI BR primer shooting the Berger 95...

Yet another adapter and chuck mating thread

G'day Adamsgt Mate i think the first thing you need to decide is if this is going to be a heavy duty working chuck doing big interupted cuts or just for fine finishing work. If it's the later i would be inclined to actualy have some clearence between the spigot and recess to allow you to take...

    Metal Finishes

G'day Fellas.. As you know i've started buiding my own action and so far everything is going to plan. But today i hit a snag... I had always had the intention of hot bluing my actions when finished. Howver i was recently told buy a guy on the forums that the material i chose for my action...
