    6.5x47 Lapua question

Are you guys that have been shooting the 6.5x47 for a while come to any conclusions that the 140 grain bullets are just a little too much for this case and that 120-130 bullets are optimally performing the best in this case? Or are you getting just as good results with 140's as you are the...

What caliber for 600/1000 yard benchrest?

If it is possible I would like to shoot both 600 and 1000 with one caliber. I was wondering if .243 would still be competitive at 1000 in the wind but it sounds like the 6mm bullets in general are too light and do not have enough B.C. As suggested above will the 6.5mm bullets get the job done in...

    Typical headspace

Yes, the question that I am actually asking is how much clearance does a person typically use between your brass length and the chamber length (between shoulders) on a competition rifle when you have to bump the shoulder back with a die? From the responses already received I now also understand...

    Typical headspace

My questions below pertain to custom chambering a barrel/not factory barrels. When reaming a chamber, what is the least amount of headspace that a person should use? What is the typical headspace used when custom chambering? Does proper headspacing vary with different calibers?

    Bore scoping a barrel

Thanks Guys. I wrapped a bronze brush with a patch, and saturated the patch with bore paste. Cleaned every bit of the black out of the barrel. Barrel looks like new.

    Bore scoping a barrel

For those who bore scope your barrels: When you start shooting a new barrel does the throat area start to discolor the steel from the high temperatures? Or is this powder buildup still left in the barrel after cleaning? I notice when I scope my new barrels as I shoot them that I have darkened...

    Trimming brass

How much under your chamber length do you trim your brass? For example, if I have a .308 chamber length of 2.032", what is the max length I should trim my brass to?

    Bronze bore brush

When you clean your barrel with a bronze bore brush is it okay to stroke it back and forth without exiting the muzzle of the barrel? For example in the throat area and first 1/3 of the barrel where the powder residue can be more stubborn to get out.
