    skeetlee, I also have a BAT SV action with a 27" MTU contour brux tube chambered for the 6.5x47 Lapua. It's pillar and glass bedded into a Meredith TMBR stock with about 5 lbs. added into the butt for balance. The barrel is completely floated. I built this for 500 - 600 yard groundhog...

    Jerry, Thanks for the link, very similar. I learned how to true up actions and chamber barrels on a larger Jet lathe and, the bigger machine was nice. I leaning very heavy toward the big Grizzly.

    SWA As far as I'm concerned the 6.5x47 lapua is an awesome cartdridge that will shoot with the 6br (and that's saying alot). You will love the tikka, here is my lefty in 243 win to get you salivating.

    270 accuracy?

    My boy has a youth rem 700 in 270. After I pillar and glass bedded, trigger job and then spruced it up with cerakote on the metal and stock, it shoots honest 1/2" 3 shot groups @ 100yds with Hornady 130 SP handloads.

    I have been shopping and the market here is flooded for sure. I really want a Hardinge but having only $6500 to $7000 to spend might be a problem. Am I better off purchasing a new lathe? I am going to buy a mill also +/- $3500, but it will be used for sure.

    BAT SV action with a pinned Holland recoil lug. The stock is a TMBR inletted for the SV by TM. My question is, usually when you see a BAT SV or similar action, with a conventional recoil lug such has a Holland, the tang area will not be bedded but sitting on top of the stock....why? Why not...
