    Simple cleaning rod question.

No stretch It's no stretch it happened. The poor B*#+* d was DOA and left a wife and two kids. Andy

    Simple cleaning rod question.

How about this for a stuff up A couple of years back a friend electrocuted himself wiping off a cleaning rod starting at the brass jag end and sliding it through his fingers towards the handle. Not looking where the end was going the jag pierced the glass envelope of a tungsten bulb and as he...

    Inside case neck cleaning?

It's never just one thing It's never just one thing you do or don't do that makes a rifle shoot poorly just like it usually isn't one thing that makes an aircraft crash. To clean the necks or not you will never be able to identify how much or little that portion of the process contributed to...

    Inside case neck cleaning?

I began doing it When I initially got into BR shooting I didn't clean inside the necks. But I found after 5 to 6 reloads from new brass I could feel some resistance a sort of dry rubbing sensation throughout the press when seating the bullets. Cleaning the inside of the necks stopped it. I...

    Carbon ring removal research opportunity

CTC or Diichloromethane I think I have mentioned this in previous posts on the same subject. I wet a suitable size patch with CTC or Dichloromethane. About two applications or two minutes work and the hard carbon ring is gone. These compounds are actually solvents for carbon. They don't just...

    Barrell length/velocity relationship?

Yes or No Original question Is there a relationship between muzzle velocity & barrel length, Yes all other things being equal? Will muzzle velocity for a 24 inch barrel vs. a 30 inch barrel be different or the same? Different Any one reading you last post could be excused in thinking you...

    Barrell length/velocity relationship?

I rest my case If you have already done a test like this then there isn't any more to say. I rest my case. I would like to see the plots if you still have them. As far as Dr Boyle is concerned he was the one who proved this relationship to be correct and as a result became a law. I have a...

    Barrell length/velocity relationship?

Boyles gas law Without writing a reply that reads like war and peace Boyles gas law states that the relationship between pressure, volume and temperature are directly proportional to one another. So once the powder has stopped burning even if the pressure is able to keep the bullet moving the...

    Barrell length/velocity relationship?

Many variables but The relationship between barrel length and achieved velocity has many variables but the laws of physics work like this. If all the powder has been burned just before the bullet exits the muzzle you have probably achieved the maximum velocity you can obtain from that powder...

    Ideal Rail Gun Weight

Thanks Fergus Thanks for the advise. The easiest method for heavy stuff is to get a rifle-smith/dealer bring it in by ship just as they do a lot of other heavy stuff like a shipment of bench rests or pallet of bullets. Yep their fee goes on top but I always take the easy way out if I can. Andy

    Ideal Rail Gun Weight

Thankyou Thanks for that. After all the different search engines I have used sourcing gunsmiths for rail guns this site never came up. I will definitely be asking them some questions. Andy.

    Ideal Rail Gun Weight

Never read that anywhere I have never seen on any web site where rail guns are advertised for sale where made to order or customized to your particular needs is stated. You can buy off the shelf rails and they post images of the finished products. One can only assume from this that the...

    Ideal Rail Gun Weight

Where do you get it One of the issues I will run into is if none of the currect manufacturers make rail guns to these specs then where do you get one made. I am an optical engineer and photographer not a mechanical engineer or tool maker. If you can't buy them made to spec then it's unlikely...

    Ideal Rail Gun Weight

Mirage is the real issue Why I am considering a rail is that when the mirage comes out to play and you can't even see the mothball let alone the bullet holes it is pointless going up against a rail with a bag gun. If the rail truly holds its aim point and you don't have to re-aim the bag gun...

    Ideal Rail Gun Weight

More mis information Hi Fergus, Seems there are quite a few misinformed BR shooters here. I remember the 12x scope limit. One of the main reasons I never bothered with it because even when I was young I couldn't see the bullet holes in the target at 100 yds. Now all that has to...

    6PPC Dies & Seater

Columns I have locally made zero bullets, copperheads, as well as fowler and columns. I test all new barrels on each. Some shot well on columns some didn't. You can never tell which combination will work in any barrel. Those that shot well on columns shot as well as the others did on custom...
