In Missouri you need to use a "center-fire" cartridge.. although there have been many taken with a .22 mag rimfire....

I have several heavy-barreled big-boomers. They are all basically as you described your rifle. They all shoot the first three shots very well and start to scatter each successive shot. I don't know why that is. I always thought it was heat. There's a lot of powder behind a .300 mag.

THIS rifle would have to consistently print 3/4" at 100 yards. Will be outfitted with a 3x-9x scope and probably will not be shot at distances farther that 300 yrds. Looking for lighter recoil than, say, a 7mm-08. No muzzle brakes. Would want the cartridge to feed from the factory magazine...
