Rifle Recommendations for ARA Factory Class

The LVT's, in general, have always had a good reputation since they first came out. Keep in mind, as with all mass produced rifles, some are better than others. I saw and posted on your thread on RFC about ammo choices and learned there what your goal is with this rifle. I shot a couple of...

Rifle Recommendations for ARA Factory Class

So, it's a 10/22 LVT? Which Kidd trigger was installed....single stage or two stage?

Rifle Recommendations for ARA Factory Class

I am pretty sure if you check with ARA, the 540XR would not be legal. There are several rifles not listed on the above list that can not be used. Check with the sanctioning body to be sure. Most of the big score cards have been shot with CZ's, from what I have seen.

    Rimfire BR barrel maintenance.

Another perfect post above. All my current actions for competition are Stiller actions, even my Sporter, so only one bore guide needed. I have a Killough bore guide and two different rods. Both rods have a different diameter. The Killough bore guide has a removable insert and they offer two...

    Rimfire BR barrel maintenance.

Something I have done for several years. Excellent advise for those wishing to learn more about proper barrel maintenance. Nice post Tim.

    Rimfire BR barrel maintenance.

I know a couple of guys using Tipton Carbon fiber rods, most use polished stainless rods. Pro Shot, Ivey (out of business?), Stiller (PQP?), Bore Tech, etc. Tim nailed it, no steel core brushes. Beanchrest brush has 2 specs in my mind. Brass wound center core that is looped on the end, back...

    Rimfire BR barrel maintenance.

Hey doggie, Please refer to post #11 by Landy. Short stroking with my normal jag and a patch that is wet with C4 will easily remove the carbon in the leade area. Be sure to push 2 wet patches before you do that to remove spent primer material, which is very abrasive. I used to brush my bore in...

    ARA match

Both Kettlefoot and Chicken Foot results for this weekend are posted on the ARA website already.

    Rimfire BR barrel maintenance.

I see the confusion here. When you post on a benchrest sub-forum and mention precision, a benchrest shooter automatically thinks 'benchrest'. In benchrest, while having an accurate system is very important, precise shot placement is just as important. Benchrest shooters very much consider the...

Greenlaw adjustable bags versus Edgewood 1 piece.

I ran two tops on my Sinclair, then switched to a Greenlaw adjustable. I no longer shoot the Sinclair in competition and run 2 tops with one piece bags, like Keith has mentioned, on the rest I use now. Scott

    Rimfire BR barrel maintenance.

Agree with the above. I do short stroke the leade area every time I clean now with C4 after I run 2 wet patches to make sure the glass like primer debris are free from the bore.

Anyone using the Sinclair competition rest?

The above indicates your Sinclair Comp BR has the windage feature. If so, I can assure you it has enough windage to cover a typical RFBR target at 50yds. I have one I bought before I started shooting sanctioned and still have it. When I started shooting IR50/50 I purchased an extra standard top...

    Rimfire BR barrel maintenance.

Tim and Pete, You'er both correct, and I will confess that Tim turned me on to C4 on another board. Since he shared that information I have found out a bunch of guys were using it that I shoot RFBR with. I use the C4 on my .223 coyote rifle, my rimfires, and my S&W 627-5 PC revolver. Has cut my...

    Eley and Lapua Lot Numbers

Maybe it's time to forget the analyzer. The only way to analyze your ammo in your rifle is to test it. I, and many others, have been burned by the analyzer. Test your ammo in your rifle. Don't count on your rifle shooting ammo off the analyzer the same as what their test barrels do. If you all...

    Practice versus match ammo.

Ah, now we have more information. You are doing just fine and your questions are posted with a very healthy attitude towards getting good advise. I have seen your rest posts and defiantly get a two piece rest. My rookie year in ARA placed me 3rd in Iowa, not a particular hot spot of RFBR...

    Rimfire BR barrel maintenance.

Last question in your post, fouling shots after cleaning. Yes, Yes, Yes! Watch your shots in your scope when fouling. As posted, most barrels are different, but not by much. I use left over testing ammo that didn't make the grade, but it will still tell you when the barrel comes 'back in'. Tip...

    Practice versus match ammo.

zanemoseley, I do not consider one box enough. Minimum 2 boxes per rifle, for budget conscious testing. After getting to know a rifle/barrel combo, you get a better idea of what to expect when testing. Tim has brought up a good point as well, accuracy potential in the real world. Several...

    Eley and Lapua Lot Numbers

Eley.....1114-02164. The first 2 digits is the product code, in this case Match. Now Match can also have a 10 product code, which is Tenex. There is a bunch of Match with this product code. It simply means the lot started as Tenex and was QC'd down to Match. I am not familiar will all the other...
