    The 222 Remington

It is not IMR powders - it is ball powders that are affected by temperature changes - 4198 is a classic powder for the 222/223/222 Mag cartridges. Try H-322, and BenchMark, if you don't like IMR-4198.

Need help on picking out a Ruger 204 rifle

Because when the 204 Ruger was developed, they loved the idea of advertising a factory 4,000 fps cartridge - it sounded great... and the 32 was well matched to the 12" twist. But the little 32gr bullet is not very effective at longer ranges. So the shooters started shooting the 39 SMK and the...

Need help on picking out a Ruger 204 rifle

I bought two XR-100s in 204, and neither would shoot the 40 V-Max - so I rebarreled the second one in 20 Tac with a 10" twist Krieger.

    Problem Post Cataract Surgery

The macular edema you have, is called CME (Cystic Macular Edema) and is caused by the drop in vitrious (fluid) pressure during the lens exchange... so there would be no edema before the surgery. CME is a common "complication" of this kind of surgery, so it is surprising that neither of your...

Neck size for .221 fireball, Need advice.

I shoot a 221 FurBall w/ 26 DAG barrel - 12" twist. It is a rebarreled Rem 700 Classic. Don't worry about the .253 neck. Load to the rifling, or the magazine length, which ever is longer. Plastic tipped bullets in 40gr to 50gr are best - powders in the H-4227, Lil'Gun, etc will give you best...

Anybody tried to modify neck portion of rcbs reloading dies?

Why not anneal the necks? It should be something you are doing anyway. The necks will stop splitting.

Scope With The Most MOA Elevation Adjustment ??

I have two Baush & Lomb 10x Tacticals. They are original Baush & Lombs, not Bushnels. One is mounted on a AR-50 (50 BMG). They have 145 MOA of up. I mounted it so I have access to all of the 145 MOA as "UP" That is the most I have ever seen. I have shot the rifle to 1,900 meters, but it will...

Fired case neck size vs loaded neck size

Great minds think alike... I have bought a bunch of Comp neck sizers, and about half of them have chambers that are too long. I called about it two years ago, and the new customer service people that replaced Pat Ryan don't know doodley squat about loading. I had to explain it 4 different...

Fired case neck size vs loaded neck size

Well, actually, I am the one that discovered the problem around 2002-ish, and contacted Redding about - One year later, the "Tip" poster appeared in their catalogue, and has been there ever since... I still have the rifle that "discovered" the problem. It came about when I had a 300 Winchester...

    Neck O.D.

It is "safe", but... I set up my 6mmBR with 9 thou neck walls... 1 thou total clearance, (actually, 0.00075"). It would shoot well, but was a real Prom Queen to live with - I needed to scrub the barrel every time I looked at it - it was fussy, so much so, that it wound up collecting dust...

When is a Neck Too Loose?

If a 0.247" bushing will let bullets drop in, then a 0.246" bushing is not small enough. Try one thou smaller.

    Benchrest needs "mad science" types.

I am not sure that benchrest is the place for "Mad Scientists" to emerge. I have seen several real scientists post very good information on bench and accuracy sites, that would make good changes, only to be run off because what they posted didn't conform to the accepted orthodoxy. When I was...
