    Going to the East-West Shootout?

I think superfeet will become standard in a few years. I just don't think they are there yet. A better rubber that can be prepped somehow (rubbing alcohol, lighter fluid, etc) to keep them from moving. A better understanding of how to prep a benchtop for them. And finally, better adhesive to...

    6 PPC bullet seating depth

Rodney, With your gun, I would want it to balance right at the face of your action or slightly behind. Also, don't use a sunshade, you really don't want that piece of metal on the front of your scope for accuracy work. Hovis

    6 PPC bullet seating depth

Usually this is caused by an out of balance rifle, not bags and technique. Several years ago, I had a very interesting conversation with a couple of top shooters. A gun he had been working on for a couple of years just never would shoot and he was giving it hell. He made a comment that he...

    Barrel Block ?

Al, Francis is right. It's all ready to shoot. On this type of block, torque is a little trial and error. You don't want the barrel to slip but you can distort the bore. With that said, I have used torque from 35 inch pounds to over 80 inch pounds. Above 50 inch pounds you can feel where the...

    Barrel Block ?

Here is a pic of my barrel block 6PPC LV gun. This stock has an "H" insert in the stock that has four individually adjustable points, then ring clamps that go over top. Hovis

    6 PPC bullet seating depth

Roduato, I hate to say this but you have burned up the best part of barrel life and haven't even found a good load/seating range. It should not take over 80-100 rds max to find out how well the rifle/barrel will work. Buy Tony Boyers' book and follow what he says about tuning a rifle....there...

    Helping a new shooter

Sorry for the late reply, I don't get on the computer much on weekends or evenings as I am usually traveling or working on the farm. His Panda is a RBRP, I'm not to concerned about the ports as I can open them up or fix that. It would be nice for a right bolt, but I can patch that also. Not to...

    Very tight primer pocket's

Scott is right on....I have had several hundred cases that the bases were concave, they will tighten up the primer pockets really quick. None of these cases really shot consistantly. a primer pocket reamer will help but is a PIA in my opinion. Hovis

    Helping a new shooter

Hello, I wanted to float this on the board and see if we can find some help for a new shooter. He is in need of a BR Stock for a Stolle Panda at a rediculously low price or free. I have went through friends and stocks I have and nothing so far. I am willing to give someone a stock I have if...

    333Smitty "cactus 2-gun tie"

Andy is correct, I never really thought about it but 100yd agg carries more weight. I let a couple of engineers here look at the thread and they do a lot of statistical analysis, they agree with him. Whether you double the 100 or divide the 200, it's the same.....100yd is weighted...

    Illinois Concealed Carry

I'm sure glad I live in Indiana instead of Illinois. I lived for a few years as a child in Illinois and remember my day varmit hunting back then 60's. I love Illinois as much as my home state, until you get to far north. Indiana keeps relaxing guns laws and except for the Gary area (chicago)...

    6PPC Dies & Seater

Brian, If you have anything other than a factory Sako ppc or Ruger ppc, the wilson oversize nk sizer and seater will not work, the brass will litterally wobble around in them. For most competition chambers, you need the standard seater and a redding type s small base ppc or one of the Harrell's...

    Cargo trailer for benchrest?

The wife and I load and live out of a 6x14 V-nose. It has the 6' 6" ceiling. Barn doors on rear (which I prefer). Built a bench and cabinets in the V-Nose and two can load comfortably in it. It is a single axle and it being the size that it is, I do wish I would have gotten the tandem axles with...
