I agree with all that's said about "balancing" the rifle but I watched my friend shoot a group target and the rifle jumped straight up a couple of times and slid straight back other times. I thought to myself...boy, that's gonna be a big group. Surprisingly, it measured .116!

This is a great loss to all. Wish I had more to write but I'm kinda "dumb struck" by this sad news....

Pretty sure many of us just put stuff on our rifles until we get something that shoots better. There's no other explanation that I can find. Let's say that someone taped a photo of their cat on the rifle, bought a new lot of ammo and then placed better than ever before. The photo will not...

OK Bob, what's the verdict...heavy sand or beach sand?

I left some posts alone that I normally would have removed. Gordon is on "cold taters" for the moment as far as the forum goes and some folks, including myself, are ruffled a bit.

I know it's not necessary for me to make this post but Bob is exactly right....on all accounts. I suppose the adage "practice what you preach" could be changed to "practice with what you preach with". Sure, it's expensive, but unless you're shooting the best you have...you ain't practicing but...

That "heavy" sand was popular some time ago and it may still be as it's one of the better fills. David wrote that the sand would settle but the bag will stretch a bit as well, both requiring more sand to maintain the original fill you chose. There's no need to fill with anything but...

I'd glue it. I don't know about the recoil lug but I've never had one on a 6PPC...all glued. One would and some would not!
