Wind indicators and probes, who manufactures

This gets hashed from time to time but I want to know who makes them today.

I know Gene makes the wind probe but who still makes the wind idicators? I am looking for something budget minded that still works.

Not sure if they still make them, but it was the father and son team Bill and Scott Dittman from Georgia. They were in the Postal matches, as well as shooting at riverbend and various other southern ranges. The Dittmans also were vary good at donating to various matches as well as the postals. I hope they still make the "windicator", we have a few like them very much, and would be happy to see others share the same success.

Unfortunately

I got a e-mail from Scott this morning. Scott advised me that he has not made them for a couple of years just not enough interest in them. Hopefully Bill Sims still does. I have a e-mail into him as we speak. If not I would like to get some closeup pics of a few so I could try and fabricate my own.

Danny Keeny makes a real good wind probe, it is somewhat smaller that Gene's but works very well! He has an ad in the classifieds under wind flags, last one I bought was $75.00.

Windicators

No I don't make them anymore....but if someone wants some help, I will answer any questions if you want to try to make your own...really not that much to it.

The genuine Wind Probe is still in production and selling well while all copycats have dissappeared from the scene. That should tell you something. Like Bruce Thom at BAT Machine says, "Buy the best and cry once."

Now now Gene,

I thought you had been asked not to solicit your products outside of the classifieds .... :D

You are definitely borderline here

Yeah, you're right Mike, but I just could not ignore that poor man's request for useful information any longer. Besides, if one is not being scolded regularly for something, he is not operating at the cutting edge. ;) :D

world class shooters use probes

I only have 6 probes of the original " Beggs " probes.

I took a couple over to Vienna for WBC9 last summer. Team Canada 2 did indeed finish 4th in the 2 gun. If it was not for my somewhat poorer shooting we may have finished higher.

The probes helped on the right side of the range more so than the left. There was a opening for the military trucks to enter the range and to to the target boards. A probe told you when not to shoot.

I also watched at the nbrsa nationals last fall where Allen Tucker shot his last 5 groups at 200. On 3 occasions Allen was being very careful in the left to right wind. On 3 occasions he went to quickly pull the trigger and the probes bounced down to the right sharply. Only those watching just the probes could tell. And it cost allen dearly.

THERE IS NO PROBE LIKE A REAL PROBE.

I told Calvin just to get one inexpensive one to then be convinced they work. Then when he can get some money ahead buy the best.

I hope folks buy the cheaper ones, how else can I finish up from the bottom.

Gene makes a great product, and unfortunately he is a very nice gentleman as well.
I bought the product because of the product and not because Gene is nice, but that makes the purchase just that much better, buying from the maker.

I hope noone going to WBC10 reads this, speaking only for myself I hope the team I am on if I qualify has probes for South Africa.

It should be noted that since interest in wind flag Czechoslovakians has waned, Bill Dittman has a line of really good wind flag Poles.

Thanks for

the replies fellows.

Gene I understand your point but for someone who is not even close to the competiton stage or may never be there are times where budget minded-ness is required. I can get hammered left and right with the saying "buy once buy the best" but ultimately the budget is in charge.

Jeffy thanks for the advice. Maybe one day I may be able to shoot against you with my budget minded equip and fare not to bad. ;)

Lotto 649 or Super 7 has not made it my way yet.:(
