Hi all. I have a 1977 model 70, in 22-250, it has a heavy barrel and I have looked all over to find out what the rifling twist might be. I do know it's either 1-9" or 1-12" I'm thinking it might be 1-9" since it has the varmint barrel. does anyone have any idea on this? and I would like any ideas on how I could measure it if nothing else! Thanks in advance! Doug

The factory 22-250's (older)I've had have all been 14 TW. That being said I've not had a Var barreled Win either (Sporter tho). Run a tight patch thru and check.

Do as Bob and Roger T has stated and just check it with a cleaning rod as everyone else is just providing you with a best guess.

Ok thanks for the response. I will run run a rod and see what I come up with. It would be nice to shoot some of the heavier bullets, but at 14" they won't stabilize!
55GR do alright, and they will knock a coyote over! Doug
