Who makes loading boxes like this?

A crummy alternative...but it works well

Let me say first that I've had , and used, about every kind of range box known. I was once a sort of "fancy" benchrest shooter. If it was needed...I had it. At some point I realized that it wasn't what my stuff looked like that caused me to shoot decently. I'm certain that I was the last to figure that little bit out...but just in case I'll make this post. Probably, right here, right now, is not the place to do it but given the cash involved I will.

Consider these two pictures for a moment. That plus a 2' X 4' table is about all I carried at the time I gave it up. The cooler doubles as a stool to sit on while loading. Simple? Yes, and I seldom needed anything else, and nothing else that I couldn't borrow from somebody. Frankly, I felt comfortable borrowing the little I needed as I was the go to guy for years. I've got to go right now but will be back to sum this up.

So, Mr. Bottle Washer, why did you give it up? You want to know why some folks don't post here anymore, inquiring minds want to know why you walked away. :)

I believe you nailed it...inadvertently...but you nailed it. I got to the point that it was just a painful experience. My legs developed poor blood circulation and it just plain hurts to walk. Mickey Connely and others helped me for a match or three until I decided it was time to quit. I shot a few rimfire matches given the lesser distance but when it got to where that gave me more trouble than fun I quit.

Truth is, I don't remember the EXACT sequence of events...but that's the reason I gave it up. Can't walk very well and it looks like I'm faking it!!

Range loading box

Don Ross was a true craftsman. The above box that he made for me took him the better part of two months make. I know he did not work a eight hour day but he worked on it almost daily until finished. In making my box Don never used one nail or screw all corners and joints where mitered and glued screws where used to hold the hinges only. I wish I had taking some pictures of the box he made from himself it was a true thing of beauty. It stood up on end and folded or opened in the middle all the tools where hand made one of a kind press and all only the sizing dies where not his. It was leather wrapped on the out side and was a true thing of beauty. I have enclosed a close up picture of the mitered joints.

What are your ideas?

I have been studying this "Range Box" issue quite a bit lately and I have come to understand that you cannot put everything you own in a range box and still pick it up without a hoist or maybe a forklift.

What all do you as a shooter want to put in your ideal range box?

Small reloading press mounted in the box?
Larger reloading press that can be table mounted at the range?
Powder measure, scales?

You could have a relatively small range box that a person could handle and another box of some kind that would hold extra things that you might also need.

What are your ideas?
