Just wondering, what kind of lathes everyone is using for their work...

At work a Clausing Metosa 1565SS and a Hardinge HLV-H. At Home three South Bend 9A's and a Hendey 14x6 Conehead.

Only kidding. Any good, accurate lathe can be used for gunsmithing. A long bed and/or big hole thru the headstock sure do help when making barrels. Tooling in a quantity that will often equal or exceed the cost of the lathe itself is also something to look for. Look at photos of what some of the old masters used and you might be surprised. It's probably 95% the man and 5% the machine.

I've got an Enco 14 x 40 and it is accurate. I'd rather have a new U.S. lathe, but this is what I could afford.
