OK this prompts a question. Other than pure experimentation, did you view current tuners which seem mostly similar, to be lacking in some respect ?
 
I used an interference thread fit acetal adjustment barrel to eliminate minute adjustment variations. Unfortunately, it acts like a solid lockup tuner that is peaky.
