watered down baseball

Dad coached youth baseball for several years. Both little league and then onto babe ruth. He won the championship every year that he coached. How single base hits they were what brought in all of the scoring runs. If one of the players decided to go for the fence and a decision of their own. They were benched and left to think about that decision for awhile. He also played every player on the team at every game they played including the playoffs and the championship game. If a player had a better than thou attitude such as you can't win without me during a game. They would be pulled and benched and someone else would take their place. He taught them it took the entire team to win a game and respect for each other and the game was always at the top of his list. He also had players who would almost always strike out or would drop a fly ball and it wasn't as if every player on the team was a super star. Bad sportsmanship was also never allowed he was also teaching them about life as well as how to play good baseball.

Unfortunately it is the professional players who are not being a good role model in life for those young folks who are starting to get involved in the sport.
