I picked this up today at a Garage sale. Got to wondering if anyone ever saw one like it before. Only details I have is the guy it was built for his name is on a brass tag on the rest his name was Clifford Hakes, there is a stamped area on the bottom with the maker's name H.J. Schmidt and it says he was a gunsmith in North Hollywood Califirnia, also the date it was made is stamped there as well April 13, 1941

I showed some pictures to Bob Pastor, and Bob thinks it is the earlist dual post rest he has ever seen. I guess it would pre-date the NEO by around 70 years or so. Anyone know anything?

It appears to be a front rest for a long bbl'd single shot like a Stevens , Ballard, high wall, etc. Typically they tend to rest the forward part of a barrel that is usually 28"-30" .
