Turbo Action and Scope bases

What bases will fit the new turbo action? It comes with bases, but I would like alternatives? Also, I do not shoot free recoil, so I would like my scope not so high. How high should the rings be? Thanks for the help.

The bases that came with my Turbo function fine. However Harrells Precision make good bases and rings and in different heights. As long as the bell of the scope clears the barrel, you should be fine for your preferences

Going over available ring choices is likely going to do far more than swapping out bases.

If Iwere going to start over

I would go for Pickitinny (sp?) everything. They won't likely move on ya.

Pete

The bases fit "Kelbly" type rings. If you get their standard single or double screw type they should be fine. Harrels tend to be higher but work fine as well.

I guess this is where I am confused. The turbo people said their bases are 3/8 in dovetail. I called Kelbly and they said their rings would not fit them. I love Kelbly rings. Should I tell Kelbly I need rings to fit a turbo without mentioning the dimensions?

Kelby

The front base of the 40X is both bases of the Turbo and most of the newer actions ,Kelby has them as well as Ten X (X-III); Killough and Sinclair, around $25/set , no big deal to find .

Harrells has made a run of shorter rings ,so they now offer a variety

Kelbly offers all rings either way, you only need the single screw. The Harrels are lighter, I put a set of them on my new sporter. They are also cheaper

Hey Jerry,

It is confusing, but you were given good information. The new turbo bases are 3/8" dovetail ( aka. Davidson ) just like the first gen turbo was. Kelby told you correctly their rings will not fit correctly. If you are dead set on Kelby rings and want them to fit correctly you will need their bases as well. Like Slick said the front base on a 40X is the same as both bases on a turbo, as well as some of the other custom actions out there with 1.350 dia. There are a lot of companies currently making good bench rest rings . It just a matter of choice. - Clint

Thanks Clint. That info really helped. I may consider Tally LW one piece bases with rings. I have used them in the past and they work great. They are light weight too. Just need to order high ones for the front of a 40X. Jerry
