Has anyone used a tuner on a 30Br or 30ppc yet. Or seen the need to.

30BR + Tuner = Good Stuff

Yes, here are two. The top one is on Hal Drake's heavy gun. It is his own design. Hal won the 100/200 yard IBS Score Nationals as well as the Group Hog Roast HV with it.
The second picture is on one of Julia's 30BRs. This is a Gene Beggs tuner that Jim Borden installed for her.

hal drake has been using one with quite a bit of success,i've got one of his tuners on mine but have only shot one match with it,still in the learning process though but it seems to work pretty good so far

I have been using the Beggs tuner on both my 30GR and 30BR, and I love it. Just shot a 25X at 100 last Saturday and finished 4 th at the IBS Score Nationals.

I go to the matches all pre loaded and all I have to do to stay in tune is watch the density altitude and change the tuner as the DA changes. I have found that using a powder like H4198 the adjustments are quite linear, but on my 6PPC with 133, forget it. It seems like the 133 is also humidity sensative and following a linear graph does not always work. I make a chart for each combination of barrel, powder, powder weight, and bullet versus density altitude. I adjust the tuner each time I go to the bench if the DA has changed.

Hope this is helpful,

Larry,

If you don't mind, would you share your 30BR info with us? For example; when what changes to what, what do you do?

Adrian,

I have marks around the outside of my tuner just like a clock face. As an example, if the DA goes up from 1200 to 1500, I just look on my chart that I have all made up based on my practice in varying conditions, and I turn the tuner the appropriate amount and direction, in this case, about one hour on the clock position.

I have found that when making my chart, usually about 3 reference points on the chart will be all that is needed to get a linear line. You must be careful with your load so that you are not on the verge of an overly hot load that will "explode" if the temp gets to a certain point. No tuner will compensate for that.

Gene Beggs is much better at explaining this than I am. He has gone over this at length in some of his recent posts. You may want to look them up also.
