Thumbhole stock

Does anyone know of a good quality thumbhole style stock that is light enough not to cause problems in trying to make weight in the Sporter/LV 10.5 LB class?
I guess that pretty much eliminates wood or would seem to.

I submit that "quality" has more to do with the gunsmith than with the stock blank. MPI's are well expressed, single layer fiber (4oz?) with a very light filler. The few MPI's I worked with were definitely not 'bolt ins' but were made into fine pieces. If you feel, as I do, that stiffness is important then you'll need a bunch of added interior gusseting which will add some weight. But this is another can a' stuff entire.....

You did said light :)

Thanks for the link Alinwa Ill give that some consideration.
Al I thought about kelbly but the only thumb hole he has is for a panda. My action is a stiller diamond back. Im not sure if it would fit that stock. Do you know if it would fit?

Vern, I know the website specifies it as a 'Panda' stock. The Diamondback has a semi-squared off tang, so I'm sure it can be made to work. Heck, right now I'm inletting a CZ527 centerfire action into a stock it has no business being in. That's the nice thing about 'glass...most all things are possible.

Give Jim Kelbly a call. He's always been more than helpful anytime I've had a question.

Good shootin'. :) -Al

The thumbhole has a lot of similarity to the Lee Six stock that Dad used on the last HV rifle he built.

He used all old school components.....an old round Shilen action, Shilen barrel chambered for 22 PPC -.100 the Lee Six stock and had Michael Kavanaugh do the paint.

It's a very nice rifle.

I'll more than likely never shoot it.

Bill,
Glad to see your still around. Was thinking about you the other day.
Sorry to hear about your dad. Ill miss him.
