Once I have my micrometers adjusted to produce the best results that they are capable of, and now that I can work with variations in wire size, I could send wires, and an inexpensive standard (along with a not as to what my measurement of it was) that was near the size of what I was having machined, that could be returned with the work.
In any case, I am getting a better handle on the whole thread measuring issue.
I find that if I start working in an area, kicking around ideas, and suggestions, over time I come to have a better grasp of the subject, and that, along with some hands on experience, generally increases my level of understanding and skill.
