Seymour, Texas
Once again another state of Texas benchrest match has come and gone.
It was good to see everyone this past weekend again in Seymour Texas. This was a shoot that even the shooters that deal with the wind everyday had some issues but managed to hang on.
I would like to start out by saying congratulations to a new shooter. (Eric Latham). I believe he is fairly new to the sport and he managed to get right in the middle of things and stick with it, keep throwing those bullets down range and I for one sure hope to see him at a match again in the future. It's always good to see someone new to the sport who after this wind blowing weekend keeps on shooting.
Next is the congrats to John Horn and Scott along with Mr. Reed his lovely wife, the announcer and the 2 man target crew. They kept this 2 day match, dinners, scoring & target changing right up to speed and we were done on Sunday in record breaking time...
Congrats goes out to all 21 shooters for driving only minutes to the shoot and those that spent hours on the road to get to the match. When it came down to keeping all the bullets together for this 4 gun match you can see by the results who was most successful in doing so this year. My hat goes into the ring to these guys.
For me I have not been able to do my part in making matches in the last several year's but it sure is sad to see our sport slowly having less shooters attend matches each year. I'm sure there are so many reasons for that and I'm not looking for any reasons, it's just sad that it's happening...
Seymour is always a great time, the friendship is great, the food is always awesome, stories, jokes, laughter and the adult beverages are never in short supply. All in all it was a great match and I would hope to think that everybody had a good time and I look forward to seeing a portion of you for the next match in Denton Texas on May 31st & June 1st. Keep burning the powder...............
