We will be hosting the Team USA East vs. UK postal match at Salem next Sunday, 3/25 at 10am. Everyone is welcome to shoot as an individual in the 12fpe(LV class) Postal match or in any other class offered under the USARB scoreline rules. We have 16 all concrete benches available so there is room for anyone just wanting to give BR a try too. I have a variety of targets available with different degrees of difficulty and we can take a look at your equipment and suggest a good target for you to try or you can pick one yourself. You can even play around at 50 yards OR meters if you'd like. There will also be a few rifles available to try on a first come, first served basis. Junior shooters are always welcome as long as they follow strict safety rules.

The match will start promptly at 10 am and we expect to be able to run just one relay. We will shoot the Postal match first, followed by lunch (probably hot dogs on the grill) and another 3 target match if conditions warrant. The temp here has been in the high 60's to low 70's lately and that is expected to hold through Sat. (as far as the forecasters will go) but the normal highs in this area are in the mid 40's and last year on 3/25 the range was flooded and unusable. I will post actual expected conditions as it gets closer to match time. The closest GPS address is 429 Black Creek Rd., Salem NY, 12865 which is the house across the road from the range. I hope to see a good turnout, so please let me know here on the forum or by email to TKBanks98@aol.com if you plan to attend.

Todd,
I will be shooting next Sunday. I also can bring a gun for people to use. Either an AA S400 MPR-FT or AA EV-2. I will be taking my scope off the Steyr to put on the EV-2. Will also bring a spare front rest and rear bag.

How is the barrel working out on the Dawson?

See you on Sunday.

Paul

Paul, Dan and Franky, Glad to hear you can make it, and Mark, sorry you can't! Now that it's a little closer to the weekend, the weather forecast is solidifying and it could be better. We'll have to put up a couple of canopy covers to keep us dry, but the temps will be in the mid to high 50's. I doubt it will be as bad as the guys out in Cali had it last weekend. Did you see those videos JD put up??
Paul, I'm using too much air with your barrel. I could get over 70 regulated shots with the stubby Lilja but barely over 40 with yours. Time to talk to Dan, I guess!
Todd

Hay Boys ! High 50 with a few showers , it could be a lot worse . I was hopping to see 10 - 12 shooters Sun . Come on you North East shooters make the drive to Salem for the UK postal .

Those Benchmark barrels with the taper lapping require more air than usual for a given fpe. Daniel's MRod with the 28" BM barrel only gets about 50 shots, the .177 is over 80. For a given muzzle energy .22 barrels are usually more efficient but the tapered bore is very high friction.

Next barrel up for the Dawson is the Hart off my 40-X. It has absolutely no measurable taper, so it'll be interesting to see how it performs as an air rifle barrel. It was a damn good rimfire barrel!

Todd,
What size bottle are you running? Will look at my tomato stakes and see what I have in .22?
Would you want to try anything in .20?

Is David coming? If so will bring a valve for him.

Spent time on the indoor range with my EV-2 10.3 gr 248. 8.4 gr 250 after 15 bulls started to open up. Ran two double cleaning pellets. Finished card for the 250.

Wet cleaned barrel and shot 13 gr monster 3 pellets to sight in , Shot 249.

Went outside 75 degree. Very little wind 1-5 mph. Set out 3 flags and probe. I didn't have my free standing target frame. So shot at 25 Yards. After 20 bulls only down two points. 4 more clean bulls then dropped 2 points on the last bull. Still my highest ever outdoor score. Yes I am happy with my new EV-2. Will make a Benchrest plate for this weekend.

Paul

Good Luck Team USA east!

May you have great weather and 250s the norm!

I'm looking forward to hearing how that Hart rimfire barrel shoots for Todd... Does someone make fatter pellets that might work better in a rimfire barrel?

Paul, Sounds like we've got another great shooting EV-2 in the group! I haven't heard from Dave, but I know Sundays are grand kid days for him, so I don't expect him.
The Dawson has a 280cc MFR bottle and reg. on it. I'm going to pull the BM off it before this weekend and push a slug through to see if I can measure it(never tried it before). Rick has some ideas that we can talk about this weekend. The barrel was good enough to win a World Championship, so I don't think we should give up on it yet;)

Wayne, Thanks for the good wishes. I'm just hoping it's not like what you folks had to shoot in! Most of the JSB's I've measured are around .215 but I do have some Beeman FTS pellets that measure .217. I'll have to try them if I put the Hart on the Dawson.

Todd's right: Sundays are committed to being with my granddaughters, so I won't be seeing you this weekend in Salem.

Having said that, I've already told my wife there are two Sunday shoots this summer I'm planning on attending, and both are at Todd's with the Northeast AG BR, and then the Tom Miller State/Northeast Reg.

I'm happy for you Paul hearing that your new EV2 is shooting that well. But, on the same note, it sounding like I may have to perform a miracle or two with my little MPR-FT just to stay at the bottom of the pack. ;) ;)

Good luck on Sunday.

Dave

Good luck this weekend Todd. Looks like you might get a little wet, but sometimes a bit of damp air is no bad thing with regards accuracy.

Looking forward to seeing the results and some pictures.

Brian,
We've shot some really good rimfire scores here in the rain but I have very little experience shooting air rifles in wet weather. We're putting the canopy covers up Sat. morning and already have rain covers on the new target stands. Should be interesting, and I'll try to remember my camera.
Todd

Hi Todd and I put the tarps up today ,so we are ready for the rain . Hope every one has a good drive up and hope to see a bunch of shooters . See you all Sunday .
