Hi all,
The 76th annual Sniper King match is in the books. Tacoma's Sniper King event, the oldest continuously awarded trophy in Benchrest, was held on the July 31st, August 1st and 2nd. Awarded annually since 1944, the winner receives the trophy based on the smallest 10 shot group shot at 200 yards. There is a pretty impressive list of benchrest shooters compiled on that one trophy.
Our course of fire is 100 yd/200yd 10 shot groups on Friday, Saturday is all 200 yd 10 shot groups. Sunday is 200yd/100yd 5 shot groups.
Bryan Zolnikov beat them all this year with his .258" 10 shot group shot on Saturday, the first group in the afternoon. Shooters had 15 opportunities to shoot that one small group.
I was pleased to see we were still able to hold such a prestigious match during these challenging times. We shot odd numbered benches on relay one, and even numbered benches on relay 2 to maintain social distance. We only had a total of 10 different shooters attend the Sniper King this year. We had shooters attend from Oregon, Iowa, and Washington.
Congratulations to Larry Boers for winning the Agg King trophy this year with a .2029" 10 shot agg @ 200.
The Sam Wilson Trophy was also won by Larry Boers , shooting an incredible 2 gun agg of .1947".
Larry Boers won the 10 shot unlimited grand agg with a .2436".
Bryan Zolnikov won the Double 200 10 shot unlimited grand agg with a .2102".
Larry Boers won the 5 shot unlimited grand agg on Sunday with a 1458".
Larry Boers shot an incredible 100 yard 5 shot agg of .1300" Sunday afternoon. This was a world record pace going into the last group, but just missed.
Small group award winners this weekend were:
Steve Kostanich, Brian Simpson, Jeff Lewis, Larry Boers, Matt Spradlin, Eric Stanton, Bryan Zolnikov and Mark Walker.
Congratulations to all the shooters. Great fun was had by all and lots of good info shared all weekend.
And lastly, I`d like to bring your attention to the outstanding crew we have behind the scenes:
Geoff Hallett, Jim Lynn, Chris Evanov, Zach Silverton, and Craig Kensler all played huge roles in our successful match.
Our next match will be September 4th, 5th and 6th
100/200 Washington State SP, LV and HV championship.
See you there!
Jeff
