St Louis shoot next weekend.

Lee

A big congratulations to Dave Coots for winning the st Louis shoot! Good shooting Dave!!! Lee

Thanks

BTW-I've never seen a new shooter win a yardage and a grand at their first shoot. Congratulations. Did i say first registered match. We need to get a committe together and have a talk with you and tell you hard this sport really is.

Also Dean Ekstrom from Iowa at his first registered match shot a .093 Way to go Dean.

Seems to me the learning curve is not as flat as mine has been--good for you guys.

Ray Porter--keep giving me crap---i'll drink all your beer

Dave

PS-This sport is stagnant.
But so is my Girlfriend.

I am usually pretty chatty simply because i have such a strong passion for this sport. I shot above and way beyond my expectations. I won the 100 yard agg in HV with something in the low 2's i dont recall at this time. I won something like 6 cash options, and i was winning the grand agg after the first three replays on sunday, but i shot some big old groups for the last two. I had a lot of trouble seeing condition changes at 200 yards. My dear good old buddy Jim Hart AKA (Mason) won the 200 yard agg on sunday for light gun i think. It was a humbling experience for me even though i shot some nice targets. I thought i was going to get me some wood for small group but that didnt happen either. I was close though! Mr Dave Coots is the subject of conversation however. Dave is a great fella and one tough cookie with that rifle of his. He just hung in there doing what he does best!!! I really enjoyed my first registered experience and you can bet i will be back!!!! Sorry for my typing skills, here guys!
I sure met a lot of nice folks, and i think this is a wonderful sport!!!!!

I finished 4th overall for the weekend. My rifle is shooting really well and 28.8gr of n133 is the ticket for the cool february weather. I did have trouble seeing my flags at 200 yards as i didnt set them properly. I had to look at the next set upwind and it gave me some trouble. One thing about it thought, Is that i learned something every time i step up to the bench. I had a wonderful time!!

Lee,
Coming from another newbie and lover of this sport you should be proud of how you shot. Especially since you hadn't shot that gun at all until the day of the match! I do understand wanting to be humble in victory, though, and I am sure you will earn more respect from your fellow shooters that way.
Keep up the good work,
Mike

Skeetlee.....Just trying to RAZ ya

You did great!!!!!

This will be my first full year of shooting, and you absolutely learn something each time. My last outing...... I learn to make sure you push your gun back to the same position (all the way to your rest stop). I dropped a point in the first match, and that will automatically toss you down to 15 or 16th in a 30+ man field (not to mention ruin your whole day).

Great shooting....

Congrats Lee..!

To win ANYTHING on your first outing is just damn FINE..! Very few do on their first outing.

Your bit hard .... Hu.;)

See ya around the NBRSA Mid-Continent matches,
cale

I did learn one thing. tighten you wheel on your rest before you shoot. I shot my first shot and it went way high and i thought what the heck??? I figured it out pretty quick but now what do i do?? I had to shoot a ton of sighters to see how in the world i was going to keep this group together. I had to rehold and i managed a .257 (i think) group. It was just a ton of fun!!!!
Now i need to learn how to set and read my flags at 200 yards!! LOL!!! I am more than sure i had a little lady luck on my side last weekend. Time will tell! Thanks for the nice comments but really Dan deserves the congrats! He is one tough shooter!!! Lee

here i another little story that i think deserves mentioning. jim hart, my good friend is a heck of a benchrest shooter. he eats sleeps and breaths benchrest, jim has helped me a ton and is just a good solid friend. he has a barrel that has been giving him some trouble and he wasnt real pleased with how it was shooting on saturday. he didnt get to frustrated he just kept at it doing what ever he could to get it figured out. he shot pretty solid just not as well as he normally would have on the first day, sunday comes and you could see by the look in his eye he was going to give it is all. he must have pulled something out of his hat because he shot very solid all day. nothing really small but definatly nothing big. he ended up winning the 200 shoot. he is a real competater and i thought it was worth mentioning. great job jim. we were both pretty up beat on our car ride home.. he just kept at it and got it done! sorry about my spelling errors here i am on my cell phone and no grammar check, lol!

Congrats Dave !! Start off the new year right.

Jim, Great to hear you hung in there and knocked some out of the park sunday.

Lee,

Great job. Really great first outing. Now maybe some of the guys on here will cut you some slack. Congrats.
