Canvas on the outside and cotton on the inside. Ful;l length zipper and prefer a D ring so the case can be locked-they are hard to find. I also like wrap around carry handles that balance when the gun is in the case-balancing case is also hard to find.

No plastic and foam..

The material needs to be breathable to keep from trapping moisture. Still remember putting my shotgun after a quick wipe down away in a cheap soft case on some misty afternoon years back only to pull it out rusted to h*** the next day.

I have both but my soft shells are made of ballistic cloth-very heavy nylon-one inch foam on each side lined with something akin to sheepskin(cotton). They are custom made in Lake City, Fl by Hafner Creations. I've had them for several years and they are GREAT! The ph # on the label is 904 755 6481. Don't know if they are still in business. V/R Greg Fowl PS Tom D-I'm sure you like Fl over Atlanta, huh?

For 600 yd. rifles I need one that is 50" to 51" in length and still accommodate a scope. That eliminates most soft gun cases but there are some good soft gun cases that are both but hard to find.

What do you look for in a good soft shell gun case?

Have been using these for the last 3 years. Makes all the rest look very poor.
