Sightron Scope mtd to Suhl

I've been eyeballing a few choices of scopes and getting close to narrow down selection. Sightron has caught my attention after reading many reports so thought I'd post a thread here at BC.
I'm considering mounting one on my .22 LR Suhl 150. .... Anyone have any comments on Sightron; Good / Bad / so so

Keeping 100yds max. and 50 yds min. for distances and looking at a few variances in the 8x24 or 8x32 range.

Suggestions: ... Comments: All welcome

I shoot a 36X on my 6 PPC & it works just fine in competition. I see a few others in the NBRSA reports as well/ Chaz

I have a 6-24 on my Savage 12BVSS in 223. Love it. Great optics. It has the fine cross hair with dot. I had a 36X but it was not as clear as my Weavers and Leupolds, so I sold it on ebay.

I have a Sightron SII Big Sky 6X-24X with fine crosshairs/Dot for target shooting and rate it the highest quality in both construction and optics of any scope I've ever used in over 58 years of shooting. And I have four Weavers including several Weaver T36 and two Bushnells presently in use and the Sightron is tops by far... Its simply a very well made scope and with Sightron's lifetime warranty you can't ask for anything better unless you spend double the money and even at that I doubt you could beat the quality by very much...

Think I'm settling in for a 6x-24x 50mm Sightron but may hold out for the latest SIII series. All the reviews have been very good.
Appreciate the comments.

Shadow Chaser what part of the Cape? ... I'm in the Holliston area of Mass.

I'm near Hyannis, on the south side of the cape...

My Sightron is the SII BigSky 6X - 24X 42mm AO (SIIB62442D) with the fine crosshair/dot reticule for target shooting and its about as close to perfect as I could want. I also use Weaver T-36 scopes for benchrest shooting and I find the Sightron is just as usable at 24 power and in general, a higher quality scope. The reticule is the nicest I have used so far and overall quality is tops. Add to that the fact that Sightron is a great company to deal with... I'm not familiar with the SIII series, I also have a Sightron Electronic Sight (red dot) and I'd have to assume the SIII series is of equal or better quality and if so, it would be hard to go wrong with that choice...

You should try to come to the Holbrook Sportsman's Club rimfire benchrest match the third Saturday of September, the match is open to anyone and its a great group of shooters, usually about nine to a dozen and plenty of chance to visit, look at equipment and talk... Bring a gun and come shoot with us or chances are, you can shoot a gun that is there, I usually bring more than one gun.

Usually there are sandwich makings and cold drinks on site provided by the match director Paul Bendix, as the rimfire match is followed by a AGBR match after lunch also run by Paul on the same range. If you can advise me the week before that you are coming, I'll be sure the Sightron is on one of the guns I bring...

Also, the Pinnacle Mountain Fish & Game Club - Lyndeborough, NH. runs matches I believe on the 4th Saturday of the month, they located not far over the state line in southern NH. The matches are run by Dave Shattuck and he drives down to shoot in the Holbrook matches as well.

I'll make a note to be at the Holbrook shoot, 3rd Sat. in September. Sounds like a lot of fun and like you say the best way to seek and absorb information from fellow shooters. I'll bring the Suhl and see what trouble I can get in.

What yardage is the competition shooting at?

I travel quite a bit so driving to any of the other shoots is no big deal. It would be great to see them as well.

Will drop a line a week before the shoot at Holbrook, appreciate it very much.

Great, I'll look forward to seeing you there... Gate opens before 8:00 AM and bench selection happens a little after 8:00AM. Match starts at 9:00 AM...

The competition is at 50 yards however the range is a lot longer and often someone will set up a target at 100 yards after the match ends for a bit of testing. I believe the range is usable to 200 yards but I'm not sure...

You might also look for Todd, user name "renegade" on here, he is match director for matches at Salem, NY which is close being just over the state line near Arlington VT. Several of the shooters here in Mass go out there to shoot in Todd's matches... And Todd often comes to Holbrook to shoot in the matches...

Shadow Chaser,

which rings did you use to mount the Sightron onto the Suhl?

I've heard a lot on Kelby Rings so I was just curious if you had to go with a particular brand.

Thanks!

M.S.

I think my brother uses the Kelby rings but I know little about them...

I use B-Square "Airsport" rings for all of my European made guns. B-Square make a good strong ring that fits the European dovetail well. It has a reversible clamping bar that flips over to compensate for the different widths of the dovetail of the various European make guns. Its one of B-Square's airgun series and comes in three heights, low, medium, and high and I find this ring works best of any I've tried. The following B-Square numbers are for high rings:

B-Square #25020 - 1" scope tube - High
B-Square #25035 - 30mm scope tube - High

Don't let the fact these are sold as "Airgun" rings throw you, these are as good as any standard grade Leupold or Weaver rings that I've used and better than many others I've seen or tried...

If it helps, I buy them from MidwayUSA although they are available many places...

Sold American! ... as they say.

Thank you for that detailed information. I'm going yo bite the bullet (no-pun) and purchase the 6x24x50 Sightron and go with the B-Square rings. I'm looking forward to getting it all dialed in which is always the fun part!

I just picked up a Lyman trigger scale from Midway, I'll give them another call for the rings. They, among many otulets are good suppliers to the shooters needs.

Cheers good buddy!
