GreatWeekend

We could not have asked for better weather........except for the wind.

We owe a big shout out to John Horn and his crew for running a flawless match. All in all, a good time among some good friends.

Here is a picture I shot late Saturday as the sun went down over the range. Kinda makes you glad your alive.

This match was cancelled last year due to Covid. It was good to get back to doing what we all enjoy.

Dr Lysord and grand Kids provided on site catering during the match. Good ole Texas hospitality.

The full match report will be posted in the Precision Rifleman magazine.

Well,
It does not matter about the weather conditions in Seymour. If it is raining, windy or just plain HOT, The Seymour group knows how to put on a great match. I have been away from the game and have not made Seymour in at least 4 years. Took the time to go to this match and really enjoyed seeing everyone again. Been way to long but with work, travel and family some things have to get put on the hold pattern.

I had a great time in Seymour, and not pulling the trigger in 4 years sure showed...

Many congrats to the winners this last weekend. The conditions were..... Well there just ain't words so my hat goes off to all those that could handle them.. I had the true pleasure of shooting next to Mike Bryant. Great guy and hell of a shooter. After watching him shoot old Skip Otto's rail and then the bag gun I'm a firm believer Mike could make a mesquite branch shoot well..

Time sure does fly and I realized in Seymour just how fast that is. I know I might not make many matches but I will be making Seymour each year..

Larry, if you read this yes the Rusty Spur Fried mushrooms are awesome...

Again thanks to John, Scott, the gent and his girls for the breakfast and lunch food each day. Was great and thanks to Kami for scoring the targets and also thanks goes out to the target crew for their work each day.

So till next year - Keep the dot's small.

Speedy Gonzales wins the Texas State Unlimited(10),HV at Seymour,Tx

27 Shooters traveled to this small,West Texas town to test their shooting skills.
The Seymour,tx stool shooters Range, at Seymour,Texas, has a reputation, similar to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, for being the host of the Unlimited Rifle (10) match for many years. The Match organizers at Seymour, have worked tirelessly to keep this fun match on the schedule. In my opinion, the unlimited Rifle is a true Icon of the Sport. In recent years, there has been an effort to standardize the unlimited rifle design. If that happens, the title “unlimited” will no longer apply. Gulf Coast Regional Director Mike Bryant showed up with an early example of A Skip Otto Rail. One of two in existence. Creativity and imagination is what makes the unlimited Rifle special.

Very Seldom do you get calm conditions at Seymour. The wind blew all weekend. Typical for West Texas.

Saturday morning, we shot the Unlimited,100yds. Jim Nicholas,a West Coast transplant, bested the pack with a fine .2182 agg followed by Speedy Gonzales. 2360, Kyle Shultz .2746,Trae Reed .2748, Gary Bristow .2792.

The work that goes into putting on a match is often taken for granted. The Match organizers, John Horn,Scott Hunter, Kami and Trae Reed ,work hard at keeping this match on the map. Lodging reservations at Seymour,Tx are prearranged by John Horn, If you plan on attending this match next year give John a call.

Volunteers,Trae Reed and Darryl Whitman arrived earlier in the week to assist with pre-match preparations.
This is just a tip of the iceberg as to what goes on behind the scenes. Its all a work in progress, that is much appreciated.
Dr Larry Lysord provided onsite catering, no mask required.:)

Dr John Dumas,,Clinical psychologist, came down from Oklahoma to help with any post Covid stress issues:)
Yeah ,the organizers think of everything. Put this match on your list of things to do next year. There is a new
Family Dollar Store on the South end of Main St.
