Sloughhouse BR Shooters held our 7th Chabot Special of the year at the Sac Valley Shooting Center Saturday.
This is the most popular match format we shoot and attracts shooters from multiple venues, HP, F-Class, and traditional Group/Score Benchrest. We shoot (4) 3-bull targets at 200 yards using caliber specific (think UBR) targets for both group & score. X’s are 11 so a 165 possible Score per 3-Bull Agg and the groups are actual not broken back to MOA.
We had a great turnout with 14 shooters who showed up to take on the challenge of the infamous Ione Triangle.
We were greeted by mild temps and lighter than normal breezes, mostly our typical SW flow out of the SW.
Everyone got there on time and were already setting up by the time I got my Mom who is recovering from heart surgery squared away with the caregiver and arrived around 7:45.
We got everyone checked in and started right on time @ 8:30. Great job by our RSO/Target Crew (Jeff, Bill, & Dave) keeping things moving along, as I needed to be back home by 1:00. We had some computer issues, but worked around them and these results are the "Official" standings.
Target 1:
Score had George Palms serving everyone notice that he wasn't scared of all the 30's steering his 6PPC to a nice 155 which was also high agg of the Match. Steve Raeder was right behind in 2nd with a 154 shooting his 30BR, Jeff Rodriguez, Roy Luchini, & Dave Robinson all popping 153's for a 3 way tie for 3rd.
Roy Luchini took up where he left off last month with 1st in group a super .4997 agg (low Agg of the match). Pete White shooting his “new” 30br was 2nd with a .5797, I took 3rd with my vintage Teddy in the "Columbian Emerald" stock (Thanks again Brett!) at .6243.
Target 2:
Score was taken by Jeff also shooting a Teddy in 30BR, with a 154, beating out Roy on the tiebreaker, Pete 3rd with a 153.
Group was also taken by Jeff, with a smoking .5143 agg, beating out Pete who had the only other agg in the .5's with a .5797, my .6243 was good for 3rd.
Target 3:
Score had George 1st with a 153 winning a 3 way tie on the tiebreaker, Jeff 2nd, and Francis Lee 3rd also shooting a 30BR
Group had yours truly finishing 1st with the only agg in the .5's a nice .5560, George 2nd with .6120, and Jeff 3rd with a .6530.
Target 4:
The pickup that started on Tgt 3 continued to increase as we started Tgt 4, and the results reflected it. More like the frisky conditions we are used to just not a lot of velocity. Still enough to toss one 1/2" away if you missed just a little tail shift.
Score had Pete 1st with a 151, beating out Steve's 151 on the tiebreaker, Bill (aka Target Crew) Costanza 3rd with a 151 beating out Daniel Abdon who also shot a 151 on the TB.
Group had Jeff taking 1st again with a .6817, I was 2nd with a .7987, Bill 3rd at .8073. 2nd with a .7847, Jeff 3rd with a .8577. I'm telling you there is something about those Teddy's and the 30BR that are just a match made in Heaven! We only had 6 out of 14 shooters manage a sub 1" agg on the last target. Now that's more like the Ione Triangle we know and love!

Thanks for everyone who showed up to shoot hope you all enjoyed it!
Thanks to Jeff, Bill & Dave for for all their help in setup/teardown and acting as RSO & target crew,
also everyone else for pitching in! Even if it's something as simple as hanging the targets on the "Wailing Wall", or bringing then in to me while I'm scoring every little bit helps!
I really appreciate the help I get from everyone, I couldn't pull these events off without all of my fellow shooters pitching in. Also would like to welcome Phil Desmangles who joined us for his first Chabot, hope you enjoyed it and will come back again!
Probably doing another Chabot in October I will keep everyone posted.
Have a great Sunday!
