Seb Stock looks to be legal

Seb sent his stock in today and I took it out to play with it a little.

We put an action in, not Seb's but one just like it, with one screw, a barrel was screwed on and I put my March Scope on it. Notice the trigger is of the new invisable type for the moment.

Setting on one of Sebs Coaxial rests It all looked pretty impressive to me

By the way, Seb has not seen his rifle fitted out this way yet.

Neat

Some one, somewhere, is rolling over in their grave.
As for the legality, when we had the discussion about a week ago about thios stock, the general consensus was that it met the criteria for The Varmint Classes and Sporter. To the purist, it probably doesn't look any "stranger" than a Scoville. In fact, it doesn'y look any stranger than that low slung thing McMillan made. I can't re-call the name of it.
What does that stock weigh??...........jackie

Uncle Paul,

I received your photos a moment ago. Again, thanks you so much for taking the photos etc!!!

Question:
Did you see any problem...any thing...that is not okay, or not fit etc?
Any problem (such as not fit or so) with the action's inletting, trigger guard, port relieve etc?

I cannot see clearly from the photos you sent.

Will send the steel weight and the standard 1/2" flat piece, etc, soon.

seb.

Jackie sir,

My stock weighs a bit less than 25 (twenty five) ounces, on a digital schale.
It's around 690 grams in metric schale.

Uncle Paul, can you recheck the weight there?

Seb will probably be most happy to hear that everything made it to Kelblys intact, nothing missing or broken.

I wonder how well the stock tracks on target, does the verticle crosshair stay on aimpoint axis when the gun is moved rearward? This is something that Seb was not able to test for before shipping to Kelblys.................................Don

Uncle Paul,

I forgot one thing to ask...

On your rest, did the bottom of the barrel touch/interfere with the top the fore end stopper?
If so, I will prepare a lower/shorter stopper.

Thanks, seb.

Seb,

I cannot remember, did you ever explain what materials you used to make this stock?

I am guessing a shaped foam blank, fiberglass overlay with a clear coat resin finish and paint, similar to a surfboard layup...........Don

No seb the rifle stop cleared just fine and I think I have the stop raised up some.

I did not weigh ithe stock, I knew Seb had before.

I will need to check my scales again but I got it at the same time I got the speedometer and it registers in Furlongs per Fortnight. I may have to get a new one.

Don, I didn't fill the rear bag and because of other reasons I just wanted to take photos at this time. Once it is built up, we will have a chance to play with it.

Remember guys Tuesday it was in Seb's hands in Indonesia and three days later, it was at Kelbly's half a world away and we were photographing it.

We didn't try the neat stuff at all.

Paul

Don,

I am a happy camper here!!...last Tuesday I just sent the stock, today I even got the photos with the mock up...and it seems that the stock is just fine.

I never have a chance to check how my stock track on target overhere....I only guess that it should be okay. (the vertical crosshair should/hopefully stay on the aim point axis, forward or rearward).

seb.

Don,

As mentioned earlier, I only use the wood "model"...(shown in last photos sometime ago).
The wood model weight about 0.3 kg (or so) if I remember correct.
I put fiberglass & resin on the stock, wrap around thin layer, then sanding, fill the pores etc, sanding, then epoxy filler, sanding, base coat, sanding again and again until all the parts/all "curves" is okay....then the chameleon paint and clear coats.
It pain in the @ss to make this stock, really, and it took a lot of time...make me crazy!!!

seb.

Yes Seb but just look at it now.

I love the look of it - PLEASE tell me it clears the coax's handle...

Reminds me of what we used to do with bicycle gears and stuff when I was a bit younger - you could lose a pound or more with some judicious use of a drill press...

Yes. At one time I took part in athletic activities. I used to be able to break spokes going up steep hills. That was when I had those strange devices known as Functioning Knees. You can ask Dickie about the concept.

Well Seb, I have always felt that every gunmaker/experimenter should build a gunstock project like yours, in order to find out if their interests and enjoyment is in metal shaping or stock building.

In your case, it sounds like metal shaping is more enjoyable (building Seb rests). But, you never know, with the feedback, about your gunstock, that you get from this SS, may change your feelings, even if all the work does drive you crazy at times.............Don

No Don, I am sure I would give up with making stocks like my stock above. I only made the stock for my own use, not intend to sell stocks in the future.
If someone, just if/in case, would like to make stock like my stock, that is okay/no problem for me.

looks good seb. have you tried to make something just to mount a scope on the stock so you can check tracking? also I'd like to see a better picture of the finish on the base of that rest.

Just for you Dusty
