Scope testing today.

Al Nyhus

"It'll never work!"
Finally got a chance to test the RFD with the locked up scope setup today. I shot a few groups with it and then played with the w/e adjustments to get a better feel for it. After that, I went around a standard IBS 100 yd. Score target a couple of times and messed with it...holding off, moving p.o.i., etc. Finally, with a dead-center hold, I shot a pinwheeled 'X', moved the crosshairs up about 2" and fired a shot, then held the crosshairs on the 'high' bullet hole and moved them to the original bullet hole (the pinwheeled X) and fired again. This shot just made the original hole about 25% bigger..just a bit higher than the original hole. So, it seems to be very repeatable.

It's weird not having 'clicks' but after a while it kind of reminded me of a Leupold 12X I had with the friction adjustments....different but not in a bad way. I was going to do some 200 yd. work with it, but the wind had brisked up to 25-30 by then. Maybe tomorrow morning or late evening when we get what I call Happy Hour..the winds lay down and you get about 15-30 minutes of great conditions. Or not.....depends. These setups aren't normally seen in Score shooting. But so far, I kinda' like it. :)

Here's a pic of it on my test mule...the infamous RFD 'Red Hammer' gun. :D

How many snakes did you have to kill to make the stock?

Bob: Randy Robinett wrestled two anacondas (probably at the same time), killed 'em with his bare hands, skinned 'em and sent the skins to me....just so I wouldn't have to paint this stock.

Now that's a friend! :)
