scope : target dot or not ?

Perhaps a silly question..:eek:
In the BR game, is there a definate Reticale preference of Target Dot+Fine Crosshairs, or just Fine Crosshairs ?
I just got some "real" rimfire paper targets, and until I get a chance to set one up....

Rimfire - I prefer fine-cross hair with a 24x or bigger.

Centerfire - 36x I prefer dot, 40x plus fine-cross hair

With the higher power and fine-cross hair you can hold on a more precise point. That's me.

thanks, I was concerned that the dot, even 1/8 moa might cover up too much, of the rimfire target center dot.
The Target Dot reticle seems used by everyone in sihoutte.

Some like the Dot, some like the Fine Crosshair. I like the Fine Crosshair and its very very small dot located at the very center of the cross.
 
Preference for sure. Some folks have vision impairments that cause the crosshair to vanish from time to time. The dot seems to be an answer for this...
 
Years ago I asked Bill Ackerman the same question.

His answer was; "Use the size dot to match the size group you want to shoot."

I've always liked that answer!

i had found a FC version on sale with free shipping at B&H, so thats what I ordered.
even at the weaver budget it'll point better than I can shoot :)
