Rear rest sand

I noticed that some people suggest using "heavy sand" I guess instead of regular sand in the rear rest. What is the difference and how does it work on the stock ? Thanks Richard

Thanks but I know that. The problem with most sands is that after the bag is filled and used for awhile the sand rubs together and turns into a powder which in turn makes the bag floppy or loose. My question should have been is the heavy sand more stable and will maintain its grain shape longer so I don't have to refill it which is on the same scale as root canal work. Thanks

A sand that maintains it's grain shape longer would be the Black Diamond blasting sand that you can purchase at Tractor Supply or similar retailers. It has a "jagged" shape and although doesn't weigh as much as heavy sand it is pretty close and doesn't pack like other sands . I like this sand for front bags and ears or for mixing with heavy sand to give the rear bag "bulk".

Thanks,
Rodney

The "Black Diamond" blasting sand from Tractor Supply that Rodney speaks of, I've had in my bags for years. It is super hard and has shown no sign of breaking down. I bought the course grit and it holds its shape very well in the ears of my Gator Bags. It only comes in a bulk bag. But it's cheap so you can share it with your friends.
